Washington wheat is beginning to head out. This is when kernels begin forming and mild temperatures become critical. Too much heat during this stage can impact yield and quality. Farmers spend all year preparing for moments like this. Pray for mild temperatures and a strong crop ahead.

From farm to port, every step matters. 🌾 Most wheat grown in the Pacific Northwest travels by barge along the Snake and Columbia rivers, one of the safest, most cost-effective, and environmentally friendly ways to move grain.

Farming is built on care, precision, and stewardship. 🌱

Farmers work to responsibly manage fertilizers and crop protection products while growing healthy, high-quality crops. But at the end of the day, Mother Nature always has the final say.

1 BARGE = 70 SEMI TRUCKS
That’s why river transportation matters.
Washington wheat moves efficiently through the Columbia River system, helping keep food transportation costs lower, reducing congestion and cutting emissions.
Efficient transportation keeps American agriculture competitive around the world.

That burger bun started in a wheat field.
Washington farmers grow some of the highest quality soft white wheat in the world, the same wheat used for soft buns, pastries, cakes and noodles across the globe.
Every burger starts with agriculture.

People want cheaper power, lower emissions and fewer trucks on the road… while demanding we tear out the dams that help provide all three.

Hydropower is roughly 90% energy efficient, making it one of the cleanest and most reliable energy sources available today. The Columbia and Snake River dam systems also help control flooding and move millions of tons of wheat and commodities safely and efficiently by barge.

For a region focused on sustainability, dams quietly provide a lot more environmental value than most people realize. 🌾⚡

Farmers just douse crops in chemicals… FALSE. 🌾

Modern crop protection is highly targeted, heavily regulated and used only when needed. In many cases, nearly 90% of what’s sprayed is simply water carrying a precise amount of product exactly where it’s needed.

Without crop protection, weeds steal moisture, insects damage crops and disease can devastate yield and grain quality. Protecting crops helps farmers grow more food using fewer resources while keeping wheat safe, affordable and available.

It’s National Pizza Party Day. 🍕🌾

Every great pizza starts with wheat, because crust matters more than people think. Thin crust, hand tossed, deep dish or stuffed crust, there’s a pizza for everyone.

What’s your go-to pizza order? 👇

Right now, timing, insects, weeds and disease pressure all matter. Every decision counts. Weeds compete for valuable moisture, insects can damage developing heads, and disease can impact both yield and quality if left unchecked.

Just like caring for our children, farmers are constantly checking on the crop, protecting it, and doing everything they can to help it grow strong and healthy. Because long before harvest arrives, there’s already a tremendous amount of care invested in every field.
