We're in the last few hours of:
International Update Your Resume Month & Food Safety Education Month
I've easily been cooking for over 30 years.
Starting off as a home cook before heading straight to Job Corps to study Culinary Arts.
My time at Job Corps was over 20 years ago. Food Safety Education for that program started immediately.
In fact, for anyone cooking and handling food this will (should) be the case.
That's right, its just as important for home cooks to know about safe food practices in their modest kitchen as a Chef in their professional kitchen.
The goal is just to keep everyone safe.
It's incredibly important and once you learn about it, you may be surprised by how much it'll stick with you as you cook.
I graduated from Old Dominion Job Corps decades ago and that training is still with me.
It's honestly, so important to me that I make sure that I stay Servesafe Certified.
In fact, I just renewed my Food Handling Servesafe Certification today.
I don't get my way into a lot of commercial kitchens anymore but I carry a great deal of what I learn into home kitchens.
Food Safety isn't just for paying customers.
There are a lot of resources out there if you're looking to be a little more mindful and proactive in the kitchen regarding food safety.
I have even included a little about it on my Plated Traditions Recipe Journal Course.
I tried to make it a bit more understanding to home cooks as I realize that having very little makes you take more risks.
So I tried to take a more conversational tone with that section while making sure that I shared the important basics.
