From successful North Carolina Cupcake Shop, to small town Iowa home bakery, you can find Frosted at the Maxwell Market May-September and slinging cupcakes out of a little camper all over central Iowa! Frosted Cakery began in June 2014 with two long time friends baking out of their certified kitchens in North Carolina and selling cupcakes out of their pink tent at downtown markets, and festivals.
After a few short months, the demand in the Swansboro area grew so quickly, it was necessary to open a storefront. Focusing on quality and taste, Kimberly and made it their mission to not only create cakes and cupcakes that LOOK good, but also taste even better! Frosted Cakery specialized in cupcakes offered out of the case on a daily basis for pick up or dine in, custom cakes were also in high demand. Other items offered were a wide variety of cookies, brownies, biscotti, and many other delicious treats. Gluten Free and Keto items were also very popular at Frosted Cakery. Where did she come from? Kimberly grew up watching her grandmother decorate cakes for their small town Iowa community and has followed in her footsteps in sharing her love of cake decorating and baking. She started her own home bakery over 10 years ago called K. Ann Cakes and has baked for several friends and family. Being a military spouse, family and the military life has been her focus, and being able to follow her dream and open her own cupcake shop is something she never imagined would be so successful. Thank you to everyone who has helped make Frosted Cakery such a life long dream come true!
Kimberly closed her North Carolina shop after 6 1/2 successful years of business. Her husband retired from the Marine Corps with 20 years of service and moved back home to Iowa to be near their families. Frosted was available at the historic Niland’s Cafe in Colo, Iowa for a short time while it was managed by Kimberly’s brother and sister in law. At the start of 2022, Kimberly purchased a tiny camper to renovate and travel around Iowa to serve cupcakes and sweets to her sweet customers.
