Today is National desert day! So, I had to go ahead with these. Oatmeal creme pies! A new one for us I've been waiting and wanting to do for years now. It holds a bit of nostalgia for my husband. His Granny always having them in the cabinet when he was younger and me for years keeping them on hand to pack in his lunches. During our better health journey it is one we cut from our shopping list and I can't remember the last time we actually had one. Before Alice I believe. Or might have been when she was two or three. 🤷
Anywho, my Dad messaged me last week astonished to see how large their ingredient list was on a store bought box. I was proud of him, he's doing great at reading labels. They're another favorite of his and moms. I told them both I've had a recipe I've been itching to try my hand at and would soon. I'm proud of this one. They're absolutely delicious with nothing "enriched" bioengineered or bleached. NO folic acid and no ingredient we can't pronounce. I can't wait to share them with Mom and Dad next visit! And, they were definitely Justin and Alice approved!! ❤️

Good morning! My Husband got to linger around the house with us this morning and have breakfast. So, of course I had to make biscuits. Baked them in my new Wagner cast iron. A birthday gift from Justin and Alice they found me during an antique store visit in Eldon. It was in great shape and very well seasoned. I had a bit of dough left over and put back for Dumplings later.
It's been raining since early morning here and we're loving it. Biscuits and gravy pairs perfectly with the cozy weather. We're Hoping to get some fall colors in our trees from it. ❤️

In one of my pictures you can see my kitchen timers, I love them and have a bit of a thing for them. I've received a couple messages about my chicken one and where I found it. Amazon, but before I found a working one at Main Street Flower Market. They're hard to find in working condition. I'd recently lost the one I've had for years now and had been on a mad hunt trying to locate another. I was so lucky to find my egg one and absolutely love it. I do have an oven one, yes, but there's just something about the chime of the old turn style ones. 🥰

Today's late lunch early dinner, Steak, taters, okra and a garden salad topped with homemade croutons and Nasturtium. Both our lettuce and Nasturtium are loving this a bit cooler weather and still growing beautifully. We boiled our new favorite quail eggs from 124 Home-N-Stead LLC to go with it and grilled our favorite Hetherington Cattle Company steaks. And Hubby got to stop in for a bit to eat with us. 🥰

Good evening!! Just realized I hadn't shared our finished spider! I have no idea how many hours we have into it, but I know it's a lot. All hand sewed and crafted by each of us. We love it so much!!
I'll add a video in the comments later of it all lit up at night. 🕷️
