It’s official , WE HAVE KITTENS ! Our little Polly arrived on our farm in February , the day we lost our sweet pug to old age and breathing complications. Polly showed up , small , scared and a little leery of people. She took to us almost immediately though. My original plan was to surrender her to Reggie’s Rescue - Mauston, WI in Mauston. I didn’t want a barn cat killing my baby chickens that were coming . But , we fell in love with her and her weird deformed toes. She’s unique , and quite a hunter who surprisingly doesn’t bat an eye at the baby chicks or ducks. A few weeks later I could tell she was gaining weight, but mostly in her belly. These past few weeks I’ve been nervous , worried she’d have them in an awful spot . She despises being locked up in the barn , and worse my house. She ran to every single window looking for an escape. Last night my husband and I set up a little kitty sanctuary for her complete with a tote we just cut a hole in and filled with some horse bedding. When I woke up this morning she was very chatty , trying to tell me these babies are coming ! When I came to check on her she was getting done delivering #4 . The did a great job , all babies are now dry , have eaten and she’s purring away.
With the help of Reggie’s rescue we will be getting all babies shots , wormed and fixed before the are available for adoption. As a responsible pet owner I just can’t let the cycle repeat and have babies being dropped at another farm 🫣. Beginning of August we will host an adoption event ! I’ve invited Reggie’s rescue to join and if they available kittens / cats / senior cats bring them too and help get them homes ! 🥰
But what should we call this event ?
Cats and cookies ?
Kitties and cupcakes ?!
🥳
