It’s hard to say goodbye, but that time has come. We have temporarily turned off the mixer as our family is preparing for our move to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I am so honored to have been part of the many sweet celebrations here in the South Bay, and this move is bittersweet. Removing a few of our local hashtags brings tears.

We so appreciate all the support from repeat customers, followers and friends. We never paid for any advertising and obtained 💯 of our business through word of mouth and referrals. Because of you, we always stayed busy, sometimes even busier than we could handle.

I look forward to turning on the ovens again once we are settled into our new home, and I truly hope that you will continue to follow our journey. If you ever visit DFW or have family/friends there, please be sure to get in touch! ~Hugs, Jen

30 minutes ago I received a text that our first bread order from Tommy and Atticus was delivered. We have already eaten half the loaf of sourdough. Sooo good and “amazing” as Little Z said!! Waiting to cut into the Cheddar Jalapeño and Rosemary Garlic. Love supporting other local bakers. If you haven’t tried this bread yet, we highly recommend it!

Baby’s first rodeo! This smash cake required some creative baking due to a corn allergy. Did you know most powdered sugar includes cornstarch to help prevent clumping? We made our own powdered sugar by grinding down pure sugar for the frosting.

Our Story

My love for baking was discovered years ago when I baked a cake for a friend’s bridal shower. Ever since then, I have sought out opportunities to bake sweet treats for friends and family. I was baking for birthday parties, showers, outdoor cookouts, ladies’ night outs, etc.

Then when our son was born, I took time out from Corporate America to stay home with him. I am not what I would consider a “granola mom,” but I do believe strongly in feeding him organic, unprocessed foods. I made his food from scratch, which was primarily vegetables and grains. He was 8 months old before he ever had a fruit, and then it was pear mixed with spinach and kale. As his birthday got closer, I began to stress about his smash cake. I didn’t know how his body would process bleached flour and fat, and I certainly didn't want to deal with the sugar rush and ensuing crash. Yet, I also wasn’t willing to accept serving a mediocre cake to our party guests. After all, I had become known for my stuffed cupcakes! That is when the idea for Little Z’s Cakery was born — a bake shop that specializes in kids’ birthday cakes.

We are a home-based bakery in Redondo Beach, California, baking custom treats for any occasion. We offer a variety of options from the traditional cupcakes with smooth buttery frosting (because let’s face it, sometimes we just need a bite of that sugar-laden dessert) to the naturally sweetened smash cake to allergy-friendly treats. All are custom made from scratch for each occasion to meet each family’s wishes. We provide free delivery in the South Bay.
