Come see us this weekend to celebrate the long awaited and much overdue Federal Recognition of our people: The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. We'll be setup from 9am-9pm. We will have all 4 flavors in 6oz bags for $10 and 1lb bags for $25! We look forward to celebrating with you!
We are excited to officially share the agenda for our historic Federal Recognition Celebration taking place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9 am - 9 pm, at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke!
The celebration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with morning entertainment on the Main Stage featuring live performances throughout the morning session. Families can enjoy Kids Crafts & Activities on the UC Annex Lawn from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Guests will also be able to experience Museum Tours & Cultural Activities at the Old Main Building from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. These activities will highlight Lumbee history, culture, and traditions while providing attendees with educational and interactive experiences.
Throughout the event area from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., attendees can enjoy food and beverage vendors, arts and crafts vendors, sweets, and shopping opportunities from many amazing businesses and artisans joining us for this special occasion.
Beginning at 12:00 p.m., the Core Program and Recognition Ceremony will take place on the Main Stage and continue until 3:00 p.m. This special portion of the day will include remarks, recognition, and the honoring of guests as we celebrate this monumental achievement in Lumbee history.
From 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., attendees are invited to the History Panel at Moore Hall, where important conversations and reflections on Lumbee history and federal recognition will be shared.
One of the most anticipated parts of the celebration, the Mini Powwow, will begin at 3:30 p.m. on the Student Center Lawn and continue until 6:00 p.m. The arena will come alive with drums, dancers, regalia, singing, and celebration as we honor our culture and traditions together.
Evening entertainment will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the Main Stage and continue through 8:30 p.m., featuring acts and live performances leading into the night's grand finale.
At 8:45 p.m., look to the sky for our Drone Light Show, a breathtaking β575 Editionβ drone spectacular honoring the Lumbee Tribe.
