With summer in swing we are so excited to have some of the best local produce available for our specials. This week we're happy to have our summer favorite, the garlic knot back on the menu. This loaf features garlic scapes from Garden of Paradise (who you should visit at the Red Oak Farmer's Market on Fridays.

We have really loved hearing all the different meals you're making with our new freshly baked buns! Classic burgers, sloppy Joes, breakfast sandwiches, and even a torta style with carnitas. Amazing! If you're a St.Lezin, the buns were also enjoyed with butter, fresh peanut butter and raw local honey 🍯 😋

Yes that's right. We're doing buns for summer time. After having a HUGE order for them over the weekend we've decided to incorporate them into the menu. These are soft, slightly sweet and buttery buns and hold up to whatever you can load them up with.

We may have a few sets available in the bakery but these will be primarily available by preorder.

It's that time again! Our Friday deliver and weekend menu is better late than never.

We've got a fun new danish for the weekend! Dragonfruit is the fruit of a cactus native to Mexico and South America. It's flavor is often compared to a cross between a melon or kiwi and a pear with some extra tangy and floral notes. It'll be a fun one!

Last night's storm was wild! We hope everyone is safe. We know there was severe damage, fires, fallen trees and power outages, including us at the Bakehouse! We were fortunate enough to save the dough for today's bread which sits and ferments overnight in the cooler. We even had friends reach out from an hour away who drove over to let us use their generator. They pulled up just in time to see the lights turn back on. If the power would have stayed off any longer, we would of lost the days bread and pastry. We're very impressed with the speedy first responders and neighbors that came to everyone's aid. We've never seen anything like this before. Just like Mr. Roger's says, "In times of disaster or trouble, look for the helpers" which we witnessed yesterday as we saw so many trucks, tractors, and first responders help their community. We're looking out the window from the Bakehouse at the square now and see volunteers picking up branches, Red Oak is amazing!

We're open today 10am-2pm! Thank you for showing us Iowa nice, Red Oak. We love calling this community our home 🏡 ❤️

What a great turn out tonight! 🥖🛍 🧀📚

We sold out of the Breakfast Brie.
Nearly everyone walked out with a baguette.
It was also so fun to created tons of bookmarks in our giftshop area.

Then, the feedback for the custard was overwhelmingly positive and we're looking forward to having it this Mother's Day weekend in the Bakehouse.

We've been so busy with planning our cheese tasting and starting our new custard that we're totally late (even by Neighborhood Bakehouse standards) with posting our menu for Friday delivery!

Here's the menu for this weekend:

• Lemon rosemary focaccia - $4

• Classic Crufin - $2
• Chocolate Cruffin - $3
• Cinnamon Cruffin - $2

• Blue cheese croissant twist - $6
• Comté cheese croissant twist - $6

Yup that's right. TWO different cheese twists. I was really looking forward to trying the Stilton Blue Cheese (an English blue that's VERY salty and earthy) but also wanted to use comté again as it's one of my all time favorites (at the age we're using it it's really nutty, buttery and grassy but as it ages it begins to develop fruity notes).

Let us know fairly quick (late morning tomorrow (Thursday) would be fine) what you'd like delivered and we'll see you Friday.
