On Oct. 1, 1960, Elmer Butz opened DeLuxe Pastry Shop in downtown Ravenna after selling his half of Butz & Markusson Bakery Supply. Guided by his son, Jim, who owned Pioneer Home Bakery in Akron, Elmer began to supply Ravenna and Portage County with quality baked goods. th in 1975. Jim continued to run the bakery until his semi-retirement in 1993. At that time, Mike and his wife, Jane, bought the bakery and continue the family traditions to this day. While some tastes change with each new generation, and while trends come and go, DeLuxe Pastry Shop's yeast-raised doughnuts remain the same. From the dough to the icing, they're made from scratch. The most popular doughnuts are the cream sticks, however the glazed doughnuts, cake doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, jelly-filled, custard-filled and danish are also favorites. DeLuxe Pastry Shop also offers a full range of cakes, pies, cookies, specialty breads and coffee.
