I made some black and white cookies this week! They were delicious! I’d never made them before but I think they turned out really yummy!

For those of you familiar with traditional black and white cookies, do you find that the white side is usually vanilla flavored or lemon flavored?

The NY Times recipe I used said it varies so I just went with vanilla and chocolate but was curious if anyone feels that lemon is more traditional?

In any case, they were delicious 🖤🤍

There’s something really special about watching fresh food go from field → kitchen → community in a matter of hours. 💚

Today, we’re sending a huge THANK YOU to Highland Farm for an incredible donation of beautiful, fresh produce including summer squash, cucumbers, snap peas, kale, and cabbage.

Our team immediately got to work — combining that harvest with additional kale from the garden at The Local Church plus NC sweet potatoes and sausage to create nearly 100 chef-prepared, microwavable meals for our Feed-Well Fridges!

These are the kinds of meals we dream of making more of: Nutritious, ready-to-eat, made with fresh local ingredients, and available with dignity to anyone who needs them.

Moments like today remind us what’s possible when local farms, volunteers, and community partners come together. And they also remind us why we’re working so hard to secure a dedicated Feed-Well commissary kitchen in Pittsboro. With a space designed for our operation, we’ll be able to rescue and process more fresh food, prepare more healthy meals, and expand our impact across Chatham County and beyond.

Every donation gets us one step closer to turning that vision into reality and feeding more neighbors along the way.

If you don’t need edible images on your cookies, you can also order them topped with just the buttercream icing. I can make any assortment of colors, including all natural dye-free options if you’re looking for that! 🌈

Here are some samples of colorful icing colors but I can create pretty much any color, shade, tint, or variation you might need.

The first 2 pictures are my natural dyes that use only plant sources of color, so you can see how the blue, green, and purple are a little more muted in the natural options.

The last pictures include a few of the standard food coloring options with more vibrant green, blue, and purple added in.

And the cookies themselves can be any flavor, topped with the colorful vanilla buttercream.

All of my cookies are iced with my crusting buttercream which means they dry hard enough that I can individually package each cookie for freshness and easy transportation, but they still keep their delicious soft bite texture!

Lime! 🍋‍🟩

My first thought when I tasted this new flavor was… what?! How is this so good? It tastes like Key Lime Pie!

Well I wasn’t the only one! Two others in my family said it also reminds them of key lime pie and another thinks this may be my best cookie flavor yet!

🍋‍🟩 I used all natural 100% freeze dried lime to flavor these cookies and they are delicious!

The lime cookies are topped with my vanilla buttercream icing!

I enjoyed dropping off some Teacher Appreciate Week cookies today! The teachers and staff deserve all the love! I put together a fun assortment, along with some with the school logo. I hope the teachers felt the love and enjoyed the cookies!
