Such an important snipit!!
The internal crisis of trying to be perfect š
There is a strange battle that happens when you create something that has your name on it because one minute your brain is saying right thatās it, itās finished, it looks good, stop touching it now and then the next minute another part of your brain appears and says yes but what if we just changed this bit, explained this better, moved that, added a little more detail
I genuinely thought I had finished the nervous system book a couple of days ago, I had checked it, I was happy with it and I thought right this is done... then apparently my brain didnāt agree because suddenly I was back in there changing pages, adding more explanations and tweaking things that didnāt quite feel right.
And this is the internal crisis of trying to create something you actually care about because you can look at the same thing 100 times and every time you look you see something different. A sentence that could be clearer, a page that needs a little more explanation, something that you know someone else might not notice but your brain has decided is now the most important thing in the world
The difficult part is knowing when you are improving something because it genuinely makes it better and when you are just chasing something that doesnāt exist because the truth is nothing will ever be completely perfect. There will always be another detail you could add, another connection you could explain, another thing you could change.
But I think the important thing is remembering why you started in the first place. It wasnāt to create something that could never be questioned or improved, it was to create something useful, something accurate and something that helps people understand a subject that can often feel overwhelming.
So maybe the goal isnāt to finally reach perfect, because I donāt think my brain actually knows what that word means š maybe the goal is knowing when something has reached the point where it is ready to be shared.
Will I probably find something tomorrow that I want to change? Absolutely š¤£ but for now I am going to tell my brain that finished is also an achievement.
I promise its done and will be available tomorrow, as I am going to tape my hands to my sides
Maybe this is a lesson when you are feeling not good enough, we all feel it it's how we push past it that matters and to not know is the ability to learn more
And hey i still keep my bad jokes throughout the book š
