A glimpse of some of the changes at MAPLE HILL the past year.....antique Davis Cabinet Company Cumberland Valley Cherry bedroom furniture now occupies the upstairs rear guest room. The oregano walls and family pictures are accented with chinoiserie red toile drapery and pillows. The upstairs guest bath has new porceksin yole floors and a beautiful wheat color on the walls. The upstairs front bedroom is soon to have a new look too! Downstairs in the study a beautiful museum piece 1850's Hepplewhite chippendale glass front cabinet proudly stand in the northwest corner and a new leather sofa is comfortable for long nights watching tv in front of the fire. The downstairs bath was gutted to the stud walls and floor joists and reconfigured. A walk in marble shower, marble floors, ship lap walks and ceiling are finishing touches here, a very much needed and refreshing look to this small space. A butlers pantry was built in the unused space that was once a back porch that I had enclosed. So much needed storage for china and crystal and serving pieces. The back hall has a complete new look with scarecrow taupe walls and artwork.
The gardens have had a fresh top coat of black mulch, new plantings, a new custoniron gate (designed by me) coming in to the roundel from the side magnolia garden, and an antique iron fence enclosed the entire front yard with a beautiful gate at the front colonade. The side porch is now a fabulous screen porch sitting area free from mosquitoes and perfect for summer evenings under the ceiling fan with cocktails or a tall glass of sweet tea. The front door is now a four bed with large custom designed by me Chippendale planters and wall trellises filled with seasonal plantings! The white picket fence was completed last year on the north side of the rear portion of the property complete with driveway gates to enclose the area for privacy, keeping pets inside and safe, and for security!
