I made this beautiful cake a year ago. I was so proud of this cake. But it was also my biggest disappointment. I put so much time and work into this beauty. I also learned a lot of valuable lessons with this cake
Lesson 1- Do not leave a cake unattended. Especially when you have jealous and petty bridesmaids. This cake stood no chance against the brides so-called friends. My job was done. The cake was delivered and I was already home. I get a call that they cake has been destroyed. I drive back to see what I can salvage. I was able to save the top 2 tiers, but the bottom was a lost cause. I drove home and made another 3 layer cake because I believed the couple deserved the cake of their dreams.
Lesson 2- Mother of the bride can be very hard to please. Don't get offended when she brings another cake. Just smile and wave boys.
Lesson 3- require a deposit. I wish I could just go by trust, but at the end of the day, it's a business, and I need to protect myself. Unfortunately, I thought since I was doing this for a friend, I could trust them to pay. I was never paid for this cake. It was kinda heartbreaking putting so much into this cake and not to be paid and get ghosted. I have learned that lesson.
I took me a year to finally be ok with posting this cake. I love what I do, and I am proud of this cake
I love this cake
Top tier was a gluten-free triple chocolate cake
Middle tier was red velvet with a sweet cream cheese filling
The bottom tier and last-minute cake was a spice cake with an apple cinnamon cheesecake filling
