🍁 One Last Sunday at the Prairie Farmstand! 🍁

It's hard to believe, but this Sunday will be our last farmstand of the season! Before we pack things up until spring, we've got some delicious fall favorites for you!

🍅 Back by popular demand! We completely SOLD OUT of our Roasted Tomato Basil Soup Concentrate last weekend! Thankfully, I talked Sue at Good Root Growers into making another batch, so we're well stocked and ready for you this Sunday!

🎃 NEW! Farmhouse Pumpkin Streusel Cake Cups – Moist pumpkin spice cake topped with buttery cinnamon-pecan streusel.

🧁 Chocolate Cupcakes with buttercream frosting

🍪 Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

🍂 It’s officially soup-and-cider weather! 🍎

Now that the temperatures are really cooling off, it’s the perfect time to cozy up with some of our fall favorites at the Prairie FarmStand.

This week we have Roasted Tomato Basil Soup Concentrate — just add cream or milk for an easy, comforting bowl of homemade soup — and our Crabapple Ginger C***r Concentrate, perfect served warm on a chilly fall day.

And I’ve been baking! Two of my favorites are back: Chocolate Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting and Carrot Cake Cups with Cream Cheese Frosting. 😋

You’ll also find Prairie Power Bites, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and all of our usual farmstand staples — jams & jellies, farm-fresh eggs and 100% Wisconsin maple syrup.

🍅 Plus, we still have some beautiful tomatoes and peppers from Good Root Growers.

What. A. Day. 🌿🫚💛

Prairie Farmstand was so happy to be part of the 1st Annual Ginger Fest at Good Root Growers — and what a success it was!

The vendors were amazing, the music was wonderful, the food and drinks were a hit, and we literally couldn’t keep up with the demand for fresh Wisconsin ginger! We learned SO much, and plans are already in the works for next year. Lots of little tweaks, lots of new ideas…and we’re pretty sure Ginger Fest #2 is going to be even better. 😊

And now for the good news… There are leftovers! 😂

The Prairie FarmStand will be stocked on Sunday with some Ginger Fest favorites, including:

🫚 Rhubarb Ginger Lemonade Concentrate
🍎 Crabapple Ginger C***r Concentrate
🍅 Tomato Basil Soup
🫐 Blueberry Mojito Mint Jam
❤️ Raspberry Ginger Rum Jam
🍞 Classic Sourdough Bread from Rural Farmstead

Both jams have that yummy little caramel finish from the dark rum — and they were a hit!

I’ll also grab some fresh tomatoes, peppers, and raspberries to put in the stand, and as always, we’ll have Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites, Prairie Power Bites, and fresh chicken eggs.

One thing we WON’T have at the Farmstand is fresh Wisconsin ginger...you all did a number on that supply yesterday! 😂 If you’d still like some, reach out directly to Sue at Good Root Growers to arrange a pickup before it’s gone. She’ll be taking most of her remaining inventory to the Menomonie Co-op (Menomonie & Eau Claire) on Tuesday.

And finally, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, shopped, tasted, visited with the vendors, listened to the music and helped make the very first Ginger Fest such a success.

It was truly a magical day. 💛

Today’s behind-the-scenes action: fresh flowers being cut and arranged for the tables, ginger getting harvested and cleaned, and raspberries being picked fresh from the patch.

It’s a little bit of chaos, a whole lot of work, and a pretty fun day around here. 😂

🌿 GINGER. GROWN IN WISCONSIN. RIGHT HERE IN PRAIRIE FARM!

If you’ve stopped by the Prairie FarmStand this summer, you already know Good Root Growers. They’re one of our wonderful FarmStand contributors, bringing us fresh, locally grown produce throughout the season.

But next Saturday, we’re going to their place! ❤️

Good Root Growers is celebrating its harvest of fresh Wisconsin-grown ginger with the 1st Annual Ginger Fest — Saturday, September 12 from 10 AM–4 PM.

And if you're wondering how ginger is actually grown in Wisconsin, this is your chance to find out. 🌱

Step inside their unique greenhouse, see the ginger growing alongside heirloom tomatoes, peppers and herbs, and spend the day learning, tasting and discovering just how versatile fresh ginger can be.

There’ll be live music, local makers and producers, demonstrations and samples, food and drinks, trails to wander—and, of course, freshly harvested Wisconsin ginger to take home.

And the Prairie FarmStand will be there as a vendor, supporting this exciting local venture and bringing along some of our Farmstand goodies—with a few special Ginger Fest creations in the works. 😉

This is their FIRST Ginger Fest, and we’d love to see our Farmstand friends come out and help make it a great one.

A couple of new things are coming out of the kitchen for the Prairie FarmStand this week! 🌿

We’re especially excited about these two…

🍓 OMA’S RASPBERRY GINGER CRUMB CAKE
A tender lemony crumb cake with a little secret ingredient—cottage cheese!—and a center of our homemade Raspberry Ginger Rum Jam, finished with a buttery crumb topping. ❤️

🍅 TOMATO BASIL PARMESAN MUFFINS
Savory, cheesy and full of basil and tomato flavor. These were made to go alongside a warm bowl of our Tomato Basil Soup—and we still have a few jars of the soup concentrate available this week. Take home the pair and dinner is practically done!

And then there are the crabapples…

Our friend Sam Dodge shared some beautiful Dolgo crabapples with us, and we put them to very good use! 🍎

We made a traditional Dolgo Crabapple Jelly—bright, tart and absolutely gorgeous—and then gave another batch a little Wisconsin twist:

Crabapple and pure maple syrup are a pretty wonderful combination.

🌿 THIS WEEK AT THE PRAIRIE FARMSTAND! 🌿

We’ve got some old favorites, a few new twists, and lots of good things headed to the stand this week!

🍅 Tomato Basil Soup Concentrate is BACK!
This was a favorite last year, and this year’s batch is delicious. Made with tomatoes, basil, garlic, onion, herbs and a touch of balsamic — concentrated so you can take it home, add your finishing touches, and have a cozy pot of homemade tomato basil soup ready to go.

🍫 Crispy Treat Cups — NEW!
Our take on the classic Rice Krispie treat, packed into a little cup and topped with a thin layer of chocolate and just a tiny sprinkle of sea salt. Simple, crispy, chewy, chocolatey…and surprisingly hard to stop eating.

🍋 Lemon Zucchini Crumb Muffins — NEW!
Tender zucchini muffins brightened up with fresh lemon and finished with a buttery crumb topping. The zucchini keeps them wonderfully moist while the lemon keeps them light and fresh — perfect with your morning coffee.

🧁 Oma's Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Buttercream
Our rich chocolate cupcakes are back, but this week they’re topped with a creamy peanut butter buttercream. We had a couple of official taste-testers give these a very enthusiastic thumbs-up today. 👍👍

Just when we thought the Farmstand was set for the day, Good Root Growers came through with a couple of fresh additions:
