Who’s ready for a new sweet companion? Meet Tulip! She is a 12 week old Nigerian dwarf/pygmy girl, raised on mom and around her herd. She has had her full CD&T vaccination. Mom and dad are on site. She is currently residing in Powhatan county, send us a message for more!

We still have a TON of chicks and grow outs! I have various breeds all aging from one to five weeks, we are located in Cumberland County if anyone is interested in seeing these little cuties!

Chocolate Laced Orpingtons (5w-2w)
Speckled Sussex Cross (2w-4w)

Last but not least our Silkies!
These guys have the most varieties, as I have naked necks AND satin AND frizzle, and of course your standard silkie!

Come out and join us at Quarterfield Markets tomorrow 9-2!! We will have our booth set up on the lawn.

This will be the last market we participate in for a few months as we await the arrival of Kona Acres second generation 🩷 we appreciate each and every one of you that support us in this wonderful journey we have been on.

That being said, we WILL still be taking orders! When you need a restock just shoot us a message or an email and we will make it happen!! We hope to see all the lovely faces tomorrow at the market!

We still have some Magpie Ducklings, Barred Rock Chicks, ONE Chocolate Laced Orpington Chick, and two Red Layer Chicks left after this past weekends swap!! Sn**ch them up now!

Later this week I have almost 70 chicks that will be ready, a mix of Silkies (naked neck and regular with a chance of frizzle), Red Layers, Barred Rocks and everyone’s favorite the Chocolate Laced Orpington.

Spring has definitely sprung here at Kona Acres!! We’ve got Silkies, Barred Rocks, Silver Laced Chocolate Orpingtons, and Magpie ducklings!

Our first breed spotlight goes out to the Barred Rock chicken!

What are some facts about these birds?

For starters, they’re super striking to look at!
The males tend to have a much lighter tone to them than the hens, but with the same barred appearance.
These birds are VERY hardy and what we call a Dual Purpose breed.
This means that they are big enough to be raised for consumption, but they also lay around 250-280 LARGE eggs a year! Often persisting through winter.
The hens typically start laying around 20 weeks of age.
These birds are full of personality but also tend to be considered docile in nature, and would make an excellent addition to any flock.

*We expect our first batch to be ready for pick-up on 4/11*

Mark your calendars folks! The incubator has been loaded, and the babies are cookin’!!

This batch will have two breeds of chickens, as well as our Magpie Ducks. Breed special sheets will be coming out through the week to showcase our birds and their amazing qualities.

As a reminder, chickens take 21 days to incubate, and ducks take 28. With that being said, good lord willing we will have baby chicks available in three weeks time and ducks in four weeks time!

After MONTHS of planning, dreaming and building, we're pleased to announce our grand opening! Early bird shopping simply means we might still be putting finishing touches on a few displays, but we'll be open for business. We're excited to see you!

When you need a solution to keeping the chicken nuggets warm in single degree temps, out comes the greenhouse, or should I say nugget oven?
