Dear MABELS Community, Friends, Family, and Vendors,
After more than a decade of serving the Powhatan community, we are saddened to share that MABELS will be closing its doors. Our final day of service will be October 17th.
There are truly no words that can fully express our gratitude for the support MABELS has received over the years. You have celebrated birthdays, milestones, family dinners, date nights, first jobs, friendships, and countless ordinary days with us and it has been an incredible privilege to be a small part of so many of those memories.
We purchased MABELS in 2021 after having already spent much of our lives in this industry. Both of us grew up in the restaurant business, starting as young teenagers, and after more than 15 years in the industry, we have reached a point where it is time for a new chapter.
Over the past six years, we have grown and changed tremendously as people. Our goals, priorities, and aspirations have evolved, and we have made the difficult decision that it is time to step away from MABELS and give ourselves the opportunity to pursue what comes next.
This decision was not made lightly. MABELS has been such a significant part of our lives, and saying goodbye to something that has shaped so much of who we are is incredibly bittersweet. We are deeply grateful for the years we have had here and for every person who has been part of them.
To every team member who has worked alongside us, whether you were with MABELS for one week or ten years: thank you. You helped make this place what it was, and your time, hard work, and dedication have meant more to us than we can adequately say.
To our vendors and partners who supported us, worked with us, and cheered us on along the way: thank you. To the Powhatan community, and especially our local Fire, EMS, Police, and other community services: thank you for your continued support and for everything you do for this community. To our families and friends who have been beside us through the long days, late nights, busy weekends, challenges, celebrations, and everything in between: we could not have done this without you. And most importantly, to every person who walked through our doors: thank you.
Thank you to every family who brought their children to MABELS to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. Thank you to everyone who made us part of their traditions. Thank you to every regular who became a familiar face. Thank you to every adult who happily indulged in one of our craft milkshakes. Thank you for choosing a local business, for supporting us, and for giving us the opportunity to serve you.
We hope you will come celebrate one final weekend with us. We will continue serving our menu through our final day while supplies last, and we would love nothing more than to see the familiar faces that have made MABELS so special over the years.
If you are interested in purchasing restaurant equipment, furniture, décor, or other materials from MABELS, please send us a direct message or email us at [email protected] to inquire about available inventory.
As we close this chapter, we do so with an overwhelming amount of gratitude. MABELS has been an incredible ride. It challenged us, shaped us, introduced us to wonderful people, and gave us memories we will carry with us long after the doors close. Thank you for allowing us to be part of this community and for making MABELS part of your lives. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the last 10+ years.
With so much love and appreciation,
Denali Willis & Brittney KirbyOwners of MABELS
