Our fresh fruit topped and filled tres leches cakes hold a very special place at Mi Dulce Elena. Not only are they the owner’s favorite, but also where our story began.
Many years ago, our family found ourselves missing the fresh fruit topped and filled tres leches cakes we knew and loved from Cuernavaca, Mexico; a place known as the city of eternal spring. Its beautiful climate makes fresh fruit an essential part of everyday life, even in desserts.
In 2009, after years of missing those delicious cakes, Mi Dulce Elena’s owner began making them for her family. Through trial and error, she began recreating the cakes we remembered and loved with Cuernavaca signature fillings like pineapple with coconut and peaches with pecans. Years later, she was able to improve her recipes and baking skills with the help of a couple baking courses.
What began as something made for our family and a little taste of back home, eventually became our small family business. Today, a little over five years since opening our shop, we are grateful to share that same little piece of home with our beautiful community 🍰🩷
