New Seasonal: Blueberry Wild Rose
Homemade blueberry compote topped with wild rose glaze, served atop a freshly made golden waffle doughnut.

I was just reflecting on how much joy it brings me to see people at the register.
Making a real connection with our customers is a great honor and a privilege.

I've noticed a lot of people's inital demeanor often changing over the last few years; they come more guarded and seemingly unused to hospitality and kindness.

To witness people's faces open like a beautiful flower as they receive the warmth of hospitality is a truly wonderful experience.
- We can choose to nurture the dignity of one another. 🌻

( Original post from 2020. Slightly updated for 2026)

COMMUNITY NOT COMPETITION
Now, more than ever, us versus them is a false choice.

The fires of fear and division are intentionally kept burning white hot in order to manipulate us and keep us in perpetual anger towards each other.

AI does not care for the well-being of the human person.
Massive corporations do not care for you.
Data centers do not care for your family or loved ones.
Politicians will do whatever necessary to retain power.

Anyone who does not live in an unreachable tower of obscene wealth is at risk of being destroyed. These flames will consume us all unless we make some significant changes to how we choose to live and what we can directly control.

Regardless of our political party, religious or non-religious affiliation or identities, these massive powers centered on accumulating wealth and unconstrained technology have proven they do not care about our human dignity.

Some actionable ways we can all push back:
Simple acts of daily kindness are the seeds that produce a beautiful garden of joy and human dignity.
β€’ A kind word, a smile, eye contact, driving with respect and awareness of others around you.
Whether or not you agree with someone, we must affirm the inherent dignity of each person.
More Ideas:
β€’ If you are an influencer, use the power of your reach for good.
β€’ If you feel powerless, take action: You have more power now than ever before to change someone's life.
It can be simple: a warm smile or a kind word gives people hope that they are not alone.
β€’ Getting together in person to support a real small business.
β€’ Hanging out in a park.
β€’ Spending time together in nature.
β€’ A phone call, an encouraging email or text.
β€’ Taking 10 minutes out of each day to exist in silence. It sounds small but it is profoundly impactful.

If you need help, reach out. We love you and we want you to thrive.

I really love our fresh raspberry seasonal doughnuts. When I was a little kid my grandma used to make me Belgian waffles with fresh raspberry freezer jam on top and this definitely brings me back to those sweet childhood memories.
And right now we've also got house made vanilla cheesecake, so of course you can make raspberry cheesecake donuts. I like to take a cinnamon sugar doughnut, add raspberry and chocolate on top and then have it dusted with sweet and salty toasted coconut bits. I don't know what it's called but I do know it's Delicious. You can ask for it at the register we're happy to build it just for you from scratch!

Hope y'all are having a good one! Nate and Jamie

Big tech ruins everything it touches.
Over the last 14 years we've seen our community and our industry experience a radical unraveling.

Big tech often proposes to make life easier, create more connection and social opportunities, increase sales etc.
And in almost all cases it turns out to be a bold lie.

Amazon has destroyed untold number or brick and mortar industries.
Food delivery services, while beneficial to a small subset of people, have damaged hospitality business and the consumer.

Social media increasingly amplifies the worst impulses of human nature; it does not build virtue or patience or kindness or real connection.
Instead of giving us more time and the freedom to slow down and enjoy life, it has created a nation of the overwhelmed, the exhausted and the creatively compromised.
Now everything just seems to be a copy or a dupe of everything else. One person is creative, everyone else jumps on board. It's bland, it's lifeless and numbs us to wonder and to beauty.

AI is rapidly crushing everyone across a number of areas that were once expressions of humanity.
It doesn't care about your beliefs, your religion, your politics etc. It seeks nothing less than total domination.
The toxic combination of AI and social media have eroded trust and goodwill that people used to naturally have for one another.

Who knows what is real?
Everyone expects to be scammed, everyone views institutions and one another with suspicion, disbelief and an inclination towards hostility. -Whether it's in the virtual realm or on the streets or in the marketplace.

What is the answer?
Real human connection. Getting out into nature and off our screens. instead of clicking that button to order something easily, make the effort to visit your neighborhood brick and mortar business. Serve others with kindness. Extend the benefit of the doubt.

Let's reclaim our humanity before it's too late.

Pistachio Matcha Cream
We've been messing with matcha since 2012 so I don't even give it much thought.
Natural pistachio? It's way more of a gorgeously subtle flavor than a lot of people realize, and this is especially true for those who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing a real organic pistachio flavor.
There's a lot of artificial flavors and colors these days that provide an incorrect understanding of what real food tastes like.
But anyway, getting off of my pedestal for a moment here: For this particular house-made topping, green tea matcha provides a beautiful foundation to push the pistachio flavor forward with the added bonus of a naturally beautiful green hue.

Food is so fun, and you can tell from my long descriptions that I am unapologetically Gen X.

We really enjoy the beautiful complexity of deceptively simple recipes, and we get especially juiced up when people resonate with our toppings. This one's been going absolutely bonkers.

I tried it today on top of a cinnamon sugar doughnut. I combined it with our strawberry rhubarb for an Italian flavor profile. The last variation was combined with our Brownie Batter Belgian chocolate.
There's a lot of fun ways to create secret menu variations right now.
Ask your cashier.
We're always happy to be your flavor guide.

Two new seasonals: Strawberry Milk & Pancake! ( also some history below )

We call this month's menu 'Breakfast All Day'

Pancake πŸ₯ž
A hot doughnut is drizzled with real maple syrup glaze and house-made sweet butter sauce.

Strawberry Milk πŸ“πŸ₯›
Our made from scratch custard using organic strawberries for a luxuriously thick and creamy texture with just the right balance of sweet and tart strawberries.

And speaking of breakfast, here's the history I promised:
We created our own unique donut recipe, inspired by my grandma's family Belgian waffles.
That's where you get the sweet golden crunch on the outside with the spiced interior pockets.

I grew in the 70's in a small town at a time when good jobs were hard to find and my father was often in the hospital. We were rich in love but due to these financial challenges we didn't get to experience much variety or excitement in our daily meals.

A visit to my grandma's house was extra special when she made us her scratch made cardamom and nutmeg waffles and pancakes. She would top them with a variety of fruit she canned and would often drizzle them with heavy cream and maple syrup.
Such a simple luxury from my past that remains a very special food memory associated with love and care
and flavor variety.

We strive to bring that same spirit of hospitality and welcome to every customer who visits our shop and hope you feel and taste the love in everything we do.

Enjoy! Nate & Jamie
