Bowery Bagels Portland's genuine NY style bagel bakery Each bagel we make is hand rolled. The dough is fermented to develop flavor and texture. That’s it.

Bowery Bagels was founded by a transplanted New Yorker whose goal is to replicate the high quality bagels he grew up enjoying. After a long, slow proof, the bagels are boiled in small batches, then baked to perfection and delivered within hours. The ingredients in our bagels are deliciously simple. Shepherd’s Grain flour from the Pacific Northwest, malt, yeast, salt, and water. Bob’s Red Mill flou

Well, here we are for another round of shutdowns. We have been reconfigured for takeout and delivery only since March, and will remain open daily to help keep Portland fed. Our staff is as dedicated to safety and sanitation as they are to preparing delicious food and creative coffee drinks. Based on the weather and Air Quality Index forecast, our shop will remain closed for one more day on Monday. We will reopen Tuesday 9/15 at 7am. The forecast is for fair winds aloft and rain on Monday, hopefully that will clear this murk away and slow the fires down. Meanwhile, stay well and work up an appetite for bagels. 🌬️🌧️🤞🏻🥯☕

While our extremely dedicated staff made it into the shop this morning, we don't have any choice but to close early today. We'll be closing at 11:00 a.m., and will stay closed through the weekend. The air quality in Portland is beyond ridiculous, and we have to make the health and well-being of our team the priority.

Our hearts go out to those directly affected by the fires. Everybody fighting the fires, and helping those who have to leave their homes, has our gratitude. Stay well everyone, hope to see you on Monday.
