From arrogant & foolish beginnings
A friend of mine (Thank you Debra Eberhart) was getting married & needed a cake person so I arrogantly said “I can do THAT!”. Did my very 1st BIG cake for a ladies retreat as a “practice cake” & got so aggravated at it that I nearly threw the thing across the room! Fortunately for me (& the cake) one of the ladies in attendance showed me the error I was making in

trying to frost the darn thing...That was in 1995 & been doing it ever since, getting better & better at it all along the way. I dedicated myself to making everything from scratch whenever possible & now have built my collection of cakes to a couple handfuls now & adding more all the time. 3 have won awards thus far but only because I keep missing the deadline...The journey continues.

This cake is my personal favorite! The flavors are spot on & real strawberries go right into the frosting, are layered in between the 6 cake layers & top the cake off nicely.

I've wanted to do this cake for a LONG TIME for some beautiful couple,or perhaps a Quiceanera.
The dress for the inspiration is titled "The Dawn Chorus Tulle Gown" By Hamda Al Fahim for Moda Operandi, cost for this dress is reported to be south of $6300. It has lovely blue birds on stems with shades of blue & pink florals.
The 7 tier cake with the see through section would be quite the kind of challenge that's right up my alley!
