It’s starting to feel like 🍂fall🍂 or maybe it’s just that we have a few pumpkins and winter squash making an appearance at the markets. 👀

Pumpkin baked goods will be coming soon… pumpkin bread was a fan favorite in previous years. Pumpkin sourdough and pumpkin focaccia are also on the to-try list. Maybe some cinnamon apple scones? We can’t wait for the fall flavors!

Until then, there’s lots of summertime flavor to soak up - tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, burger buns - get em before they’re gone!

Feeling extra grateful for all of you who support this little family farm and cottage bakery of ours.

Every handful of veggies, loaf of bread, pack of cookies means so much to us. Thank you for making the food we grow and bake part of your day, and for visiting us at our bake shop or farmers markets week after week.

I’ve not been very good about taking pictures lately, especially at the markets as we’re so busy, but here’s me and my ovens, still hot from cranking out this morning’s loaves, wrapping up another fantastic week of baking for this community and prepping to do it all over again next week!

100% Stone-Ground Sourdough with locally grown and milled high-extraction and whole wheat flour from melgardfarmmill 🥰🥖❤️

My first attempt at this new flour blend wasn’t quite right but I made some adjustments and I’m very happy with this batch! Rich flavor, dark crust, tender crumb - it’s real artisan bread with really good flour! Thanks to Allison White and her Saving Bread Podcast for the inspiration and encouragement.

I’ll have some at the bake shop today (Fri) and Amador Farmers Market in Sutter Creek tomorrow (Sat). If you want to make sure you snag a loaf, preorders are open until 6p tonight for Sat farmers market pickup.

I’ll do another batch next week (but not as much as I’m almost out of this flour) if you miss it this week. Sign up to get a text when preorders open!

🍓Strawberry Scones 😍 these are made with fresh, gently dried, and freeze dried strawberries. Available in-store only at the Bake Shop.

While sourdough is our bread and butter (pun intended 😉), we’ve had fun experimenting with different scone flavors and inclusions - there’s also a few Almond Joy 🍫🥥 scones there today - and changing up the flavor every week or two.

Ok y’all… I’ve been hyping myself up about this for a while but this week I’m finally attempting a batch of 100% stone-ground sourdough. Inspired by Allison White and listening to her Saving Bread Podcast, plus getting some extra T85 sifted stone-ground whole wheat by accident, the universe is pushing me to give it a go.

I’ll use all locally grown and milled wheat from melgardfarmmill, which we already include at about 20% in all our sourdough.

If they turn out ok, we’ll bring some to the Plymouth bake shop on Fri and Sutter Creek Farmers Market on Sat. No preorders (because what if they’re terrible??) but please put a 🥖 below if you’re excited about sourdough made with 100% stone ground whole grains!
