A reminder for our 2023 brides that it is time to begin thinking about your cupcake display or your tiered cake. We already have 50 wedding cakes booked for 2023, so it's never too early to contact us!
We are on a short, much needed break; but will return all calls and emails promptly once we return to our baking.

We had a special visitor at the Piece of Cake Christmas party. Cassidy brought her sweet little muffin, Camryn. I think she found us a bit boring ....she slept through most of the evening!
Fondant cutters came in handy. This is purely an experiment. Time will tell. Pies are not my specialty. I leave that to Log Cabin Bakers !

Very thankful for all our faithful customers who placed orders for the holiday (41 pick ups on Wednesday). We sold every cookie and cupcake in the shop! I just want to remind everyone that cakes need to be ordered ahead...we had many calls from individuals looking for cakes. For the Christmas holiday, please order your cakes ahead! It's not too early now!

For the woman who loves sweatah weathah...
Many of our customers have noticed that my previous location (34 Alden Street) is currently for sale. So many are asking "why don't you buy it and move back in?" I have been explaining to everyone as they pick up their orders, so here is my answer for anyone who is wondering......
Sadly, my prior landlord, John McNamara, passed away recently, and his family is therefore selling the building. I have no plans on moving my business again. I will remain at 166 Westerly until I retire from the cake business.
.. As many of you know, I started my business in my home after leaving my position in Boston to stay home with my children. I babysat for another child fulltime and started up my cake business from home. My cake business blossomed and my husband, Michael, built a commercial kitchen onto our home (completed in 1992) to accommodate my customers and my cakes!
I remained there for ten years, making cakes as we raised our three sons. Sadly, my husband passed away suddenly at 41 of a heart attack, and I needed to support myself and my children. At this time, I opened a retail shop which would allow me to remain close to home and not have to return to Boston to support my family.
A large part of my income is related to weddings and large wedding related functions. During COVID I made the heartbreaking decision to close my Alden Street store and return to where I began my business...back to 166 Westerly Road.
I'm thinking this is my circle of life...time to slow down a bit. I am very happy working out of Westerly Road (which has always been our baking kitchen). So to answer everyone's questions ...we are here to stay! And I have no plans to retire as of now. But here are a few photos of my beloved cake/coffee shop, for memories sake. It was truly the perfect location for us during the 13 years we were there. Lots of great memories. I hope this answers all the questions!
Some of our recent all-occasion cakes....
I know that I recently posted a "naked" cake, meaning very little icing on the cake. Well now we have our "semi naked" cake which still has a limited amount of icing but also has the rustic ridge texture. This particular cake boasted a couple of our New England flavors: apple pie cake and Boston Creme Pie. This was delivered today to Pinehills...my weekend is done. Monday Funday.

November weekends have been a whirlwind as far as weddings.....all of these cupcake weddings were at Pinehills over the last two weekends....one wedding which exhibited the Chinese double happiness symbol was cut out of fondant and then painted with edible gold paint. I used to think cupcakes were a fad, but I think they are here to stay!

More cupcakes at Pinehills....this sweet couple could not make up their mind on cupcake flavors, so they basically had them all! (The loud crashing sound in the video is the servers filling the glasses with ice!)
Every inch of this place is full! We have most of our orders completed, so feel free to pick up earlier than scheduled. We do have some extra cupcakes available for purchase!

Tonight's bride, Emily, did an amazing job purchasing a collection of wooden cake dishes and stands. These unique dishes complimented our cupcakes perfectly. Guests love having a choice of all these delicious flavors!
I realize most businesses are no longer practicing curbside pick up, and many of our customers are wanting to walk into our shop. As you can see in the video, we are short on space in our pick up area. To prevent damage to our cakes and also to keep our pick ups organized, we ask that you remain in your car and simply give us a call to announce your arrival. We are happy to bring your order to you. Also, keep your AC running and your doors closed until we arrive. This heat and humidity is wreaking havoc on our cakes and cupcakes. Thank you for your understanding...
Everyone's loving cupcakes these days! It's a great way to offer your guests a variety of flavors....tonight's bride offered everything from plain vanilla/vanilla to salted caramel to triple chocolate to lemon coconut!
Well.....if I have to work on a holiday, the place to be is the Pinehills Pavilion....it was my pleasure to set up this cupcake display for a lovely bride and groom who will be celebrating every 4th of July from now on!
