Happy Thursday!
It’s a very, very full weekend here at the bakery and we thought we’d bring you in on some of the excitement. Find your favorite chair and something nourishing to sip on- there’s a lot to read in this post.
~ Stop by Airy Point Farms on Saturday from 10-3 pm for their incredible Petal Palooza event. Can you think of a better way to kick off the summer season? Plus the weather looks perfect for an outside strolling kind of day. You can stop by the Bettersweet tent and say hello to Keston and Abe, pick up some nature inspired treats as well as some farmer's market menu favorites. We’re also bringing some of our lobby market items with us: Bettersweet on the go. Read more about the event here: https://www.facebook.com/airypointfarms
~ Then, next Tuesday, June 2nd you can find us at Restoration Orchard & Market’s Blue Moon pop up from 5-8 pm. Once again you’ll be able to stop by the Bettersweet tent and greet Abe, who will be representing the bakery and selling some great treats. We’ll hop on FB again early next week to remind you of the event and let you know what our menu holds. Word on the street- bring your lawn chair and enjoy some live music and dinner once you’ve done a little perusing. You can take a look at this monthly event here: Restoration Orchards & Market
~ We do not have an official a la carte menu for tomorrow, but if enough extras are generated, we’ll let you know tomorrow evening about any extras available for Saturday morning.
~ We wanted to take a few moments to chat about the shift happening here at the bakery, starting next week. While we’ve appreciated the kindness that has been shown to us already around these changes, it's time for a little clarity.
1. We are NOT closing.
2. Our a la carte menu will be available when we have the capacity.
3. Our wedding options, services, and menu are not changing at this time.
4. Our website will look completely different in the next two weeks. All across the board things are simplifying, and our website will visually reflect this shift.
5. You can still order cakes!
Let’s look at #5 in a little more detail. For the past 20 years, when you’ve wanted to order a birthday cake, you’ve visited our cake menu, picked out a cake size and then built a flavor combination. You’ve chosen the cake flavor, filling flavor and frosting flavor. Then you’ve communicated on what you’ve wanted the cake to say, the colors you’ve wanted us to use when decorating and often sent over photos of an invite, or a similar cake design you’ve wanted or even left the decoration up to us. It’s truly been a custom order cake.
Here’s what will look different starting next week.
When you want to order a cake, you can visit the menu for the weekend you’re cake order is for, select a cake size and pick one of the 10 weekly rotating flavor combinations. Our decoration style is shifting to simple and pretty, so while we are not accepting inspiration photos or high level custom decorating requests, you can let us know what you'd like the cake to say as well as any color/s you'd like us to use.
The same concept applies to cupcake orders.
We appreciate the incredible outpouring of support to our entire family not only for the past 20 years of business in this community, but in particular, in this calendar year that has been... a difficult one.
[Anyone looking to sell a vehicle that can hold wedding cakes? All joking aside, DM or email us if you have any leads.]
In closing, thank you for allowing us to exist and create.
Thank you for supporting a local business run by a family that makes changes that reflect what that family needs.
Thank you for grace when we run out of time to reply to your email or forget your order was for 'today'.
Thank you for visiting us at other events and supporting other amazing creators, growers, farmers, and artisans. .
Thank you for your kindness to us as we chose to pivot rather than burn out.
Now, find your self a little sunshine before the stars come out and tell someone close to you that they matter.
And think about visiting Abe on Saturday or next Tuesday.
And... ask him about his new business venture this summer. :)
