Our Story
SALT- one of the world’s oldest ingredients. CRAFT- skill in making things by hand. Salt Craft is an ingredient-driven casual American restaurant in the heart of downtown Pleasanton, California. With seasonal menus and a focus on products of the Tri Valley region, Salt Craft’s team of chefs offer elevated takes on classic dishes and the everyday meal. REFINE YOUR ROUTINE Award-winning chef and Pleasanton resident, owner Matt Greco blends modern and home cooking in an open kitchen he designed set in a renovated historic California style home.
Our guest can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with full-service in our outdoor arbor seating (heated in cooler months), or get breakfast and lunch to-go.
CHEF MATT GRECO I grew up in the great state of Texas, where I learned to build smokers and smoke meat from my dad as a kid. I attended the Culinary Institute of America; spent ten years in New York City working as a cook and sous chef for three great chefs (Daniel Boulud, Andrew Carmellini, and Gray Kunz); launched a successful restaurant in Brooklyn; was an executive chef at a winery restaurant; did a little bit of traveling; and received a few awards along the way. In New York I married another chef—a bay area girl—and after the birth of our first son we moved to Pleasanton. My latest culinary influence: cooking at home for the family. Some might call it "home cooking”, but at a chef’s house everyday fare is always a little bit out of the ordinary. The skills and ideas of the professional culinary world are never far away. They elevate the everyday meal. They refine our routine. My purpose at Salt Craft is to bring the spirit of the chef’s home kitchen to a restaurant where the food can be enjoyed by everyone every day. Cheers
