Why "Risa"?
Like our logo, the name has a few layers of meaning.
First, it’s rooted (pun intended) in the ancient Greek word "Rhiza", which means the roots of a plant—but also foundation, base, and familiar connections. Roots nourish and support growth, just like I want this shop to nourish and grow our community. They also form an underground communication network, linking everything around them—just like the connections I hope to foster here. That’s why roots are a key feature in my logo!
Risa also means "laughter" in Spanish, a nod to our local Latino community and a reflection of the kind of space I want to create—joyful, welcoming, and full of good vibes.
And the sunrise at the top of the logo? That ties into another "ris-" root—symbolizing new beginnings, a fresh start, and the time of day when many of you will be stopping by.
So whether you're here to fuel your morning, connect with friends, or just enjoy a great cup of coffee, Risa is all about growth, joy, and community. Can't wait to share it with you all!

¿Por qué "Risa"?
Al igual que nuestro logo, el nombre tiene varias capas de significado.
Primero, viene de la palabra griega antigua "Rhiza", que significa raíces de una planta, pero también base, fundamento y conexiones familiares. Las raíces nutren y dan soporte al crecimiento, justo como quiero que esta cafetería ayude a nutrir y fortalecer nuestra comunidad. También crean una red de comunicación subterránea, conectando todo a su alrededor, reflejando las conexiones que espero fomentar aquí. Por eso, ¡las raíces son un elemento clave en nuestro logo!
Risa también significa "alegría y risa" en español, un guiño a nuestra comunidad latina y una representación del ambiente que quiero crear: un espacio lleno de alegría, calidez y buena vibra.
¿Y el amanecer en la parte superior del logo? Es otro significado ligado a la raíz "ris-", que simboliza nuevos comienzos, un nuevo día y el momento en que muchos de ustedes vendrán a visitarnos.
Así que, ya sea que vengas a recargar energías por la mañana, a conectar con amigos o simplemente a disfrutar una buena taza de café, Risa es un lugar de crecimiento, felicidad y comunidad. ¡No puedo esperar para compartirlo con todos ustedes!
