Throwback Thursday: Frank and Mary’s Catfish House
Frank and Mary’s opened in 1945 at the end of World War II when Frank begin selling beer and fish sandwiches from the front room of his house. Since its beginning, Frank and Mary’s was located in 3 different locations around Pittsboro. Frank and Mary’s was known for their famous Catfish and was known around the state for their famous catfish dinners.
Back in 1951, a catfish dinner, which included one pound of catfish, choice of potato, choice of salad and bread and butter cost $1.50. What a deal! With fish fry season upon us, we are definitely missing Frank and Mary’s and the delicious food they provided our community for decades!

It has been said that the Locale in Brownsburg still uses the famous Frank and Mary’s catfish recipe!
