They’re doing it. They’re actually doing it. The Trump administration is coming for Head Start—yes, Head Start—the one damn program in this country that gives poor kids a fighting chance. Not just cutting it back. Not just freezing the budget. No, they want to eliminate it entirely, like it never mattered, like it never lifted up millions of children, parents, and communities.

This isn’t just some line item in a budget proposal. This is a declaration of war against the working class, against the poor, against children who had the audacity to be born into families without power or wealth. This program serves over half a million kids—babies, toddlers, preschoolers. It gives them early education, food, healthcare, emotional support. It gives them a goddamn chance. And for their parents—mothers working double shifts, fathers scraping together side hustles to survive—it gives them the ability to keep working, to keep fighting, knowing their kids are safe, fed, and learning.

This program pays for itself many times over. Every dollar spent on Head Start saves this country up to nine. It reduces crime. It boosts graduation rates. It keeps kids out of foster care and out of prison. It improves health outcomes. It supports entire local economies—especially in rural and underserved areas—by employing teachers, nurses, family advocates, and support staff. Communities depend on this.

And these ghouls want to wipe it out. Quietly, tucked into a draft budget like a dirty secret. Because they know what it would mean if people were paying attention. It’s not about “efficiency.” It’s not about “returning control to the states.” It’s about cruelty. It’s about making sure the poor stay poor, that the working class never climbs up, that children born without privilege are locked into a system that only opens doors for the rich. They want desperation. They want cheap labor. They want mothers forced out of work and children fed into a system of neglect, then blame them for struggling later.

Killing Head Start isn’t fiscal policy. It’s a fu***ng moral failure. It is state-sanctioned neglect. It is child abandonment written in bureaucratic language. It is proof that the people running this country do not give a damn about families unless they’re white, wealthy, and waving a checkbook.
