Y’all know that feeling when you find a candy you haven’t seen in **years** just sitting there at the gas station like it was waiting for you? 😭

Well… that happened today, and now my brain is officially in **4th of July cakesicle mode**.

I’ve got something working that feels fun, nostalgic, summery, and perfect for the holiday weekend. Think **summer candy nostalgia**, but in Magnolia & Jade cakesicle form. ❤️🤍💙

I’m also working on a **Mango Tajín / Chamoy cakesicle**, because sweet, tangy, fruity, and a little kick just feels like it needs to happen.

So with that being said…

I’m looking for a few **cakesicle testers** who would be interested in trying these new flavor ideas at a discounted cost while I decide if they should officially join the menu!

Magnolia & Jade will be testing a limited number of **Make-Your-Own Cakesicle Decorating Kits** — a sweet little activity box filled with pre-made cakesicles, decorating chocolate, sprinkles, toppings, treat bags, and simple instructions.

No baking.
No molds.
No dipping.

Just decorate, let them set, bag them up if you’d like, and enjoy!

These are perfect for rainy days, playdates, birthdays, sleepovers, mommy & me activities, school’s out fun, or just a sweet weekend project for the kiddos.

School is wrapping up, and Magnolia & Jade wants to celebrate the kiddos who worked hard this year!

Since I haven’t seen many “end-of-year award” goodies offered in our area, I thought this would be a sweet way to recognize all those proud school-year moments.

For any kiddo finishing the school year with an award, certificate, classroom recognition, or end-of-year achievement, Magnolia & Jade will be offering a **FREE traditional Chocolate Chunk Cookie** — the full quarter-pound cookie! — **AND a FREE Birthday Sprinkle Cakesicle** with a minimum purchase of **$20**.

Just show their award, certificate, or recognition at pickup, and they’ll get a sweet little reward for all their hard work.

Magnolia & Jade has always meant more to me than just baking. As long as I am here in Pinehurst, I want to continue building strong community ties and finding ways to give back where I can. That started with the **Birthday Joy program**, continued with **cakesicle donations for Easter baskets**, and now I’m excited to add this little end-of-school celebration.

It has been an extremely busy couple of days, and I just want to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who reached out, showed support, shared kind words, and stood behind not only Magnolia & Jade, but hopefully other home-based food businesses in our area as well. It truly means more than you know.

I also want to clarify something: my intention was never to make this seem like an “only me” situation. As more information came out, it became clear that this affected cottage bakers, home bakers, and home food processors as a whole.

To be clear, those terms all fall under home-based food businesses. This is not a “gray area,” and many of us operate legally, carefully, and with food safety rules we are required to follow. Because of that, I do feel strongly that anyone managing a local food page should have a clear understanding of the different types of food businesses allowed to operate in North Carolina. That understanding goes beyond the AI-generated answers found in a simple Google search, as those responses do not always provide correct, complete, or up-to-date information.

That being said, I am ready to move forward.

My hope is that we can take something frustrating and turn it into something positive. A new group, **MoCo Cottage Bakers**, has been created as a safe and supportive space for local cottage bakers, home food processors, and the community members who want to support them.

If you are looking for local baked goods, treats, breads, custom sweets, or home-based food businesses in Moore County, I encourage you to start there. And if you are a home-based food business, we would love to have you join us.

Before I get back to answering messages, a couple of quick updates:

1. I have **2 German Chocolate Brownies** available due to non-payment.
2. Cakesicles are currently sold out, but I will be offering the same flavors again next week, along with **MYO Cakesicle Kits**. More information about those will be posted tomorrow.

I created a new Facebook group called **MoCo Cottage Bakers**, and I would love for you to join us!

This group is for local cottage bakers, home-based food businesses, cottage food processors, and neighbors who love supporting small food businesses in Moore County and the surrounding areas.

Whether you bake cookies, breads, cakesicles, candies, jams, custom treats, porch stand goodies, or other cottage food items, this group is meant to be a place where small food businesses can be seen, shared, and supported.

It is also for customers who want an easier way to find local bakers and home-based food makers for birthdays, holidays, teacher gifts, porch pickups, weekend treats, special orders, and everyday sweet cravings.

Small food businesses are such a special part of a community. We are the people baking from home kitchens, packing orders late at night, testing recipes, posting menus, showing up at markets, and hoping our neighbors will give us a chance.

This group is here to help make that easier.

Hey friends,

I’m honestly really hurt having to write this.

It appears that the admins of the Moore Foodies page have now blocked not only Magnolia & Jade, but also my personal page and The Buttered Crust from posting. At this point, I can only assume this is intentional, though I truly do not know why.

I do not know the admins personally. I have not used the group for anything other than sharing my business posts, the same way many other local businesses do. I am not sure if all NC cottage-based businesses are being blocked, but what I do know is that this is severely impacting mine.

Most of the people I have baked for since opening Magnolia & Jade found me through that page. That group helped me reach neighbors, new customers, and people who gave my little cottage bakery a chance. Being cut off from that space with no explanation is not just frustrating. It is scary.

It also brings me right back to five years ago, when I first wanted to start this dream and asked in a local Moore County group if people would be interested in a cookie-based cottage bakery. Someone told me, “People around here won’t buy from someone they don’t know.”

Thankfully, so many of you proved that wrong.

You trusted me. You ordered from me. You shared my posts. You picked up cookies, cakesicles, breads, bagels, and treats from my porch. You helped Magnolia & Jade and The Buttered Crust grow into something real.

So to the Moore Foodies admins, since I can no longer see who you are or message you from any account, I want to say this clearly:

Yes, I am an NC cottage-based business.

That means I make everything from my home, by order, under the rules I am required to follow. I follow food safety guidelines. I label my products. I keep my workspace clean. I do not allow my children in the kitchen while I am baking for customers. I take what I do seriously because I care deeply about the people who support me.

This is not just a hobby page being blocked from making a post.

You are impacting two small businesses. You are impacting my ability to reach customers. You are impacting my livelihood and the livelihood I am trying to build for my two children.

If this continues, I may have no choice but to move Magnolia & Jade into an order-only business and step away from the porch stand style drops and new item releases that so many of you have supported.

I truly hope this can be fixed. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking to be treated fairly, like the other local businesses who are allowed to post, advertise, and reach the community.

That being said, I am still here and still baking.

I do still have a few cakesicle boxes available for order and pickup this weekend. These are packs of 4, and I also have 1 Gooey German Chocolate Brownie left.

And I will never stop being grateful for that.
