First, I owe everyone an apology for the delay! After four months away recovering from my broken ankle and foot, I was a little too eager to get back into the kitchen. Unfortunately, I pushed my recovering ankle too far and needed another two weeks of rest.

Let’s talk dessert.

If you’ve been ordering Dining on Demand for a while, you may remember that I used to offer a different dessert each week. Eventually, I switched to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies as a way to streamline my weekly prep, and they’ve been a fixture on the menu ever since.

My love of baking and pastry, however, goes back much further than Dining on Demand.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a pastry chef at A Taste of Britain and Judy’s on Cherry, and for years I created custom cakes and desserts through Abigail’s Cakeligraphy. Although my business looks a little different these days, pastry will always have a special place in my culinary heart. I love the precision and creativity of it, and the fact that a handful of fairly ordinary ingredients—butter, flour, sugar, eggs, chocolate—can become something extraordinary.

So, I’m curious: What is the dessert you can never pass up?

Are you counting down to Thanksgiving because nothing beats a homemade pie? Would you choose a beautiful French pastry? Is it cake or cupcakes every time? A warm, fudgy brownie? A really good cookie? Or is your favorite something entirely different?

When you hire me to cater your event, you won't be handed a list of packages and asked to choose Menu A, B, or C.

Instead, I'll ask you a much more interesting question:

My catering and private chef services are fully customized around you, your guests, and the experience you want to create.

Perhaps you're envisioning an intimate French dinner at home for your anniversary, your grandmother's favorite dish recreated for a milestone birthday, an elegant brunch for a bridal shower, refined comfort food for a backyard celebration, or a memorable meal for a small wedding.

**If I can make it, we can build a menu around it.**

With nearly two decades of professional culinary experience, I've worked with cuisines ranging from American, French, and English to Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Indian. Nearly everything I serve is made from scratch, and menus can be thoughtfully designed around allergies and dietary restrictions.

I offer:

**Intimate in-home private chef experiences**
Enjoy a high-end, restaurant-quality meal prepared for you in the comfort of your own home.

**Drop-off catering for events of up to 50 guests**
Ideal for intimate weddings, bridal and baby showers, anniversaries, birthdays, holiday gatherings, and other special occasions.

**Desserts for your occasion**
While I no longer offer custom cakes as a standalone service, special-occasion cakes and plated desserts can be incorporated into your catered event.

Because every event is different, **the service itself is customizable, too.** During your consultation, we'll discuss the menu, setup, equipment, and any additional staffing your event may require. Your quote will be tailored to the specific needs of your occasion.

Serving the greater Reading area and locations up to approximately one hour away.

**Now booking events beginning in 2027.** I recommend reaching out at least one month in advance, although larger events and popular dates may require additional notice.

For me, great catering isn't simply about putting good food on the table. It's about creating a meal that feels as though it could only have been made **for you**.

📋 A new menu featuring **one poultry, one fish, and one meat entrée** is posted every Thursday. Text your order to **484-942-9367 by Sunday**, and your fully prepared meals will be delivered Tuesday!

💲 Meals are **$17.50 + tax** and are generous single-adult portions. Each one even includes a homemade brown butter chocolate chip cookie! 🍪

🚗 Delivery is available throughout the **greater Reading area, Oley, Douglassville, Boyertown & Gilbertsville**. Order 4+ meals and delivery is **FREE**; otherwise, it's $5. Mount Penn pickup is also available.

🥡 Meals arrive cold in microwave-safe containers with reheating instructions and can be refrigerated for up to **5 days** or frozen for up to **1 month**.

Dining on Demand is my prepared-meal personal chef service, offering fully cooked, heat-and-serve meals delivered right to your door.

The idea behind it is simple: Everyone deserves a delicious, balanced, homemade meal---even when life makes cooking one difficult.

Maybe you're juggling work, kids, school, sports, and everything else that comes with a busy week. Maybe you live alone and don't want to cook an entire recipe for one person. Maybe limited mobility makes spending an hour at the stove difficult. Maybe you're a new parent running on three hours of sleep. Maybe your family is going through a challenging season.

Or maybe it's Tuesday and you just don't feel like cooking. That's a perfectly good reason, too!

That's where Dining on Demand comes in.

These aren't your average meal-prep meals: With nearly two decades of professional culinary experience, I personally create each week's menu, select the ingredients, and prepare your meals. Hey everyone! It's been a minute, so let me reintroduce myself…

I’m Abby---the chef, owner, menu planner, grocery shopper, prep cook, delivery driver, and everything in between behind Abigail Sterner’s Personal Chef Services.

I've spent the last 17 years working as a professional chef, and over the years my career has taken me from restaurant kitchens, catering, custom cakes and pastries, personal and private chef work, to eventually owning my own business.

Dining on Demand grew out of something I really love doing: making homemade meals that people are genuinely excited to sit down and eat---without having to do any of the shopping, chopping, cooking, or dishes themselves.

Unfortunately, a badly broken foot and ankle put me rather abruptly out of commission back in June. After two surgeries, a very long and boring summer, and ample healing time, I'm finally (somewhat) walking again and getting closer and closer to being able to get back into the kitchen.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing a little more about myself and the business, asking for your menu input and feedback, and even offering a few giveaways, so stay tuned!

Hey! I wanted to provide a brief update.

My ankle surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning (yay!). Unfortunately, they aren't able to do the foot surgery at the same time, so I'll have to wait approximately three weeks before that can be done as well.

After that surgery, I'll have around six weeks of healing before I can start putting weight on my left leg again, which takes us to the very beginning of September. From there, I'll need physical therapy to rebuild my strength and improve my range of motion. Overall, my doctors expect it will take about six months before I'm mostly back to normal.

That being said, I still don't know when I'll be able to resume business. I need to see how I'm feeling and what I can safely and realistically take on. The only thing I can say for certain right now is that I'm out of commission for the rest of the summer.

Unfortunately, I broke my ankle in three places today, so there will be no Dining on Demand meals for the foreseeable future while I recover.

If you have already paid for meals for Tuesday, 6/16, I will be issuing refunds by the end of the day.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding, patience, and support during this time. I'll share updates when I have a better idea of when I'll be able to resume meal services.
