Several weeks ago, our Office was contacted by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR), regarding a statewide initiative to help foster relationships between hunters and private property owners within local jurisdictions throughout the Commonwealth.
As our Office receives a high volume of hunting-related complaints during statewide 'Big Game' season from both hunters and property owners alike, this is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with one another to address concerns and resolve specific conflicts.
We are pleased to announce that our Office will be hosting a "Hunter-Landowner" Meeting on Thursday, February 26th, beginning at 7:00 P.M., in the General District Courtroom of the Nelson County Courthouse. This meeting will be facilitated by the Department of Wildlife Resources, and it will be open to the public.
Sheriff Embrey, Captain Kevin Wright of Nelson County Animal Control, and Conservation Police Officer Andrew Sundra will be in attendance to answer questions regarding a Law Enforcement approach from each respective agency.
We firmly believe that this meeting serves a valuable purpose, and that it can be highly beneficial for the Nelson County hunting community, as well as local property owners. We look forward to having positive discussions in an effort to build a positive relationship between both groups.
