Here is your forecast for Tuesday May 12th, 2026
Well good morning, South Central PA. May showed up today sober, sunny, and suspiciously well-behaved. Don’t trust it. It’s wearing a wire for Wednesday.
We’ve got sunny skies today because the atmosphere took a personal day from chaos. Highs upper 60s, winds light and variable becoming west 5 mph. Basically the sky shrugging at you. It’s the one day this week where May remembers its job description. Dauphin County gets the same sun as everybody else today, so no VIP treatment. The rest of you commoners can also mow, mulch, or fake your own death to get outside. You’ve got 12 hours.
Tonight we slide to around 50 to lower 50s with mostly cloudy skies. Not frost, but warm enough that your furnace finally stops judging you. South winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph after midnight. That’s Wednesday warming up in the parking lot doing donuts at 1 AM. If your trash cans end up in the next zip code by sunrise, you’re welcome.
Then comes the scam. Wednesday stays mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon because the sky doesn’t believe in half-measures. Highs upper 60s to lower 70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph gusting 25 to 30 mph. Lancaster and York, say goodbye to your patio umbrellas. They’re about to apply for FAA clearance. Chance of rain 50 to 80 percent, which in PA means “it’s raining, put the steel-toe boots on.” If you scheduled anything outdoors Wednesday afternoon, the sky already hit “decline” and blocked your number. Car washes, baseball, your will to live, all canceled.
Wednesday night the weather goes full villain arc. Showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then showers. Lows upper 40s to around 50. Chance of rain 90 to near 100 percent. That’s not a forecast, that’s a subpoena from the atmosphere. South winds gusting 25 to 30 mph before midnight. Your gutters are about to earn hazard pay. Your basement dehumidifier just updated its resume.
Thursday’s the hangover. Partly to mostly sunny with a chance of morning showers because Wednesday’s still drunk. Cooler with highs upper 50s to lower 60s. We’re dropping 10° overnight because May’s meds wore off. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph gusts up to 25 mph. Thursday’s the “assess the water damage and rethink your landscaping” day.
Bottom line: It’s a “Tuesday’s the bait, Wednesday’s the felony, Thursday’s the mugshot” kind of week. Today’s the memo, tonight’s the warning, Wednesday’s the reason you own a sump pump.
