Here’s a look at Cindy & Todd’s wedding invitation suite.

All letterpress except the belly band which was digitally printed in opaque white. Cindy wanted to feature the hydrangeas that are so plentiful at their venue, so we designed all pieces to feature hydrangea motifs. The color palette – a sophisticated green and gold.

Cindy and her daughter Emily met with me back in February and were so much fun to work with. Cindy and Todd live pretty far from our studio so it made more sense for us to take care of the assembly, postage and mailing. This is a service that we offer our wedding clients to give them ease of mind and less stress as their big day approaches.

Yesterday we had our first of two “Letterpress HOLIDAY CARD Printing & Painting” classes. This particular class sold out last summer when I posted it to our website, so needless to say the attendees were very excited to be there and had been looking forward to it for a while! We had a lot of work to do but we got it done and they each got to print and watercolor a set of 20 customized holiday cards. 💌🎨 And they were the most lovely and curious group 😍

It’s always such a whirlwind and time is flying and I never have a chance to take any photos except right before people arrive, but I did manage to get a couple of photos of a few of their creations.

In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Karla, the designer behind Sky of Blue. Approximately 2 years ago I opened my letterpress / design studio & shop with a dream of pivoting from a mostly wholesale greeting card business (don’t worry - still shipping to shops nationwide!) to building a custom wedding invitation atelier and creative workshop space. I studied a book on Ikigai, the Japanese concept of finding your purpose in life – the intersection of what you love and what the world needs (see next slide for a graphic I found by Justin Wright which beautifully illustrates this concept). This really helped set things into motion. 🙌🏼

I knew I could offer joyful experiences to my customers. If I could build it, they would come. Things organically fell into place. Bridal clients & workshop participants started spreading the word. The wedding invitation part grew quickly this year, with 2025 booking up, and well on the way for 2026. At the same time the workshops, which had a gentle start, began filling up.

I love what I do so much, and I believe that comes through in my work.
