Hello pizza friends. Anyone remember these days? It seems like forever since we shut down pizza nights during the pandemic. I definitely miss these evenings! If you’re missing them, too, I have some good news!
Many of you know that in these last few years, I’ve been offering some classes on the farm through Land Alliance Folk School. Happy to announce that this summer we will be offering a series of lighthearted Make Your Own Pizza Classes. If you love coming out to eat woodfired pizza, think how great it will be to get into the kitchen and make your own?! We’ve done a couple test runs, and it has been so much fun! I wanted to jump back on this platform and let you all know - it would be great to see some of you again! I’ll share the link in the comments for any of you who want more information or to sign up.

Hello friends,
Many of you have been following this farm for years and supporting all that goes on here. So thankful for that!

For those of you who know me, you know I have a rather expansive hospitality gene combined with a love of the beauty of the natural world. Each of my enterprises have been created to invite others into that beauty.

As you all know, pizza wound down as the pandemic wound up. Through the twists and turns of the pandemic, I stumbled into a new endeavor. Somehow I accidentally taught a short course on entrepreneurship - focusing on how to build your vision into something that offers beauty in the world and also sustains you. The feedback was surprisingly enthusiastic and the group asked for more.

That summer, I also encountered many young professionals here, staying at our campsites as they traveled during the pandemic. I was struck by a theme that emerged as I talked with them.

Disillusioned with corporate work, they were longing for slower lives, wanting to feel grounded in a place, have more time to rest, and more time with family. Through these conversations, and with the course I’d led in mind, I created a longer course called Entrepreneurship in an Economy of Enough, rethinking how we build a business and reevaluating success.

I thought I should share it here, and if you’re interested in investigating it, I’ll put the link in the comments.

It is designed to be online, but several locals have talked to me about also offering it in person. I am so very willing to do that and will offer both options this year. Contact me if you are interested in the in person option or would just like to ask questions!

While I’m here, these are the 3 parts of the course - they can be taken separately or all together.

The Inner Journey Retreat: A look inward to explore who you are and how to support your business without burning out. Dec 2-5.

The Abundance of Enough: Practical skills for building a sustainable business that truly supports your life. Jan 9-30.

Marketing as Generosity: Redefining success and reframing marketing as service and gift. Feb 7-March 30.

I’ve strangely enjoyed putting all of this together and have truly loved the groups that have gathered. I’d love to have some of you join the latest group. Please share if you know others who would resonate!

Things are changing on the farm!

It seems like a lifetime ago when we had our first pizza night and eight people gathered around the oven, eating hot pizza off napkins as soon as it was baked. We had no idea how much it would grow! You all have been such fun, devoted fans, and have made these years a remarkable journey.

Many of you have been asking what our plans are for the year. After much thought, I’ve decided to officially end pizza nights. It’s been a wonderful era and the time seems right to shift directions.

While pausing for Covid, my creative energy shifted to develop other spaces for guests on the farm. So for those of you who still want to visit, I’d still love to host you!

If you love camping, glamping or staying in a cozy retreat room, I used pandemic time to create indoor and outdoor lodging - so you are welcome to come book a getaway on the farm.

I’ve also been offering skill building and maker’s classes for anyone who wants to rekindle their creativity, connect with the land and learn with others.

Both the lodging and classes are offered through Land Alliance Folk School & Retreat Center (see link to website in comments to learn more).

In addition to creating these new spaces for you all, I’ve been getting to spend more time on farming, developing new crops and transitioning to new practices. Changing the way we farm takes a lot of energy, and I’ve been grateful for some time to be learning and working on that.

Maybe someday pizza will emerge again in a new time in a new way, but in the meantime, you are welcome to come visit for a different kind of farm experience. I’d be delighted to see you!

No matter where your paths take you, I wish you the best in whatever space you find yourselves. Much love to all of you! I hope to stay in touch.

One of the ovens got fired today! I so very much loved the enthusiasm of these children and their teachers as they participated in a day meeting the enterprises on the farm - Geyer’s Oven, Land Alliance Folk School and Anna’s Cutting Garden. Hailing from Tamarack Discovery School, they arranged bouquets, made wood fired pita bread, explored the food forest and, happily for me, found where my free spirited chickens have been hiding their eggs! (Under a vine in the cutting garden).
