Cakey Cakes & Bagels

Alright Owosso, here's cupcakes! We planned on having these first thing this morning but you guys had other plans and we sold all the bagels! Last week we did a birthday theme and we did another this week! Lena from Marketplace On Washington picked her own birthday theme and we made it! Well except our "Q" challenge cupcake. Here goes:

Q - we were given the letter Q and had to use 3 ingredients that started with Q and we did 4. It's a Quaker Quick Oats cupcake filled with Quince jam and topped with Quandong ( an Australian fruit!) buttercream and the cherry on top is a Quinoa granola bar chunk that we made! We just split one and it's so much better than I would've guessed. This was easy Defying Gravity Bakery Café ! You thought Q would be a challenge. Yawn!

Yucky lemon - Lena wanted to ruin her birthday with lemons. Here you go. Yuckcakes

Pumpkin - it's close enough to pumpkin time that we gave in and made one. This one has buttercream and cinnamon sugar on top!

Chocolate peanut butter - ol reliable. Makes up for that gross lemon one. Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and topped with ganache!

Raspberry pizza - Lena asked for one to look like pizza. I'm not sure we achieved that but you be the judge. Raspberry swirl cake topped with buttercream, raspberry jam, shaved white chocolate and some sprinkle pepperonis!

Here's the Fancy Owosso! It's a perfect one for this time of year as it kind of mixes summer and fall, it's Granny Cake! It's pineapple and brown sugar cake soaked in a sweet milky butter and vanilla mixture and topped with walnuts. It's very gooey and moist and it's one of our favorites! $5

I rolled a wheel and it stopped at V Owosso. So we're going to make a cupcake with 3 ingredients that start with the letter Q and Defying Gravity Bakery Café will make one with 3 that start with V. We'll have the results Thursday or Friday, still ironing that out! Stay tuned!

We are going to be closed this Sunday for Labor Day Owosso. We checked the numbers for the last 2 years and we gave away bagels last year so we'll just sleep in. We'll go heavy on Saturday so you can get your fix still!

Good morning Owosso! Tomorrow Washington and Comstock Streets will be closed from 6a-6p for the vintage motorcycle show so it may be tricky to get to us. We're going to make extra bagels this morning so you can get your weekend fix today. We will still be open tomorrow as well if you want to come see some bikes while you eat a bagel!

It's cupcake time Owosso and this week we did something we've never done before. We were joking around with one of our favorite customers, Peggy D. Kirby about doing a Peggy week because it's her birthday! And the more we thought about it the more it sounded like a good idea. So here's 5 Peggy cupcakes for her 29th (probably) birthday!

Flower - Peggy posted a hibiscus flower the other day that Jennifer tried to copy and maybe? Got close? Anyway it's cherry chip. They can't all be winners Peggy.

Hydrangea - none of these were posted but Peggy loves flowers and Jennifer loves making this one. This time it's vanilla!

Swears - what conversation wouldn't be complete without some cursing. So here's a speech Bible of cartoon swears made out of chocolate, the sweariest of cake flavors.

Espresso mocha - this is the cupcake that started the conversation about this theme. It's a chocolate cake filled with espresso ganache and topped with espresso buttercream! It ought to put some pep in your step. Or some Peg in your step.

Rainbow - who doesn't love a rainbow?! The cupcake is also rainbow funfetti!
