A local legend and hero is losing the battle with cancer The friends and volunteers at Walking Down Ranch and Veterans Village are facing the loss of one of the organizations’ founders and greatest supporters.

Sad news to share....BARBARA YANEZ of "Our Secret Garden" in Rochester, WA, passed away the morning of February 17th. Barb was a mentor to me...taught me everything I know..made me the lover of primitives that I continue to be today. The time I lost with her since moving to Arizona & not keeping in touch makes my heart hurt. We had so much fun junking, laughing, setting up the most amazing shows on her property, having coffee mornings & homemade baked cookies that she always had on hand. She so loved her sweet little a-frame house on Elderberry Street. It was filled with the most beautiful pieces that she would collect throughout the years. So fun to watch her shop for her store that was located on her property...what an eye she had for those special pieces. So many people were touched by her and her love of collecting. Friends that made handmades and sold them with her, orders that would come in and fill the store...it was such a wonderful time in my life to be able to experience all these fun times with her.

This post is hoped to reach all of Barb and I's customers from those days past & that all will send their prayers & love to her family and that they can rejoice in her time here on earth with us. She is leaving behind the most amazing happy friends & customers that she touched deeply with her creativity & passion for the primitive & antique world.

WE ALL LOVE YOU BARB & know you will continue your work up there in heaven!

Barb's service will be held Friday, March 4th for family & close friends.
