Adding chocolate to a recipe often makes dough or batter feel heavier. This happens because chocolate is dense and high in fat. So the key to getting a beautiful bake or domed top on a chocolate cupcake (or muffin, etc) is to bake them at a higher temperature. However, cocoa is prone to burning, so you should test your oven before baking an entire batch. For example, I bake lighter batters at 335 degrees but bump it up to 345 for chocolate. Happy baking!

Another fun cookie party! Thank you to the Putnam County Council on Aging for hosting, and thanks to the Village of Kalida for letting us use the Lions Den. This was an ornery group of ladies! Thankful Morgan was there to help keep them under control! 😂😂😂
