Enjoy a fun night learning new recipes while socializing and partaking in the yummies created. My earliest memories include baking birthday cakes for my cat! Those cakes may have looked ridiculous and tasted gross, but I sure was proud of them! As an elementary school student, I remember pretending to be Julia Childs and taking over the kitchen to make salads for my entire family. Moving on to hig
h school, my love for cooking really started to blossom, over a third of my high school credits were geared towards Home Economics and included a 2-year stint in a bakery program at the Boys Town Vocational Education Center, sponsored by my high school. I catered my way through the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Upon graduating and getting married, I jumped right into my career as the manager of the University of Nebraska Omaha Alumni Event Center. More recently, and for the past 13 years, I owned my own food related franchise and taught the Ladies Night Out cooking classes at Pits N Grills, right here in Springfield, MO. I’m a competitive BBQ grill master and judge and regularly compete alongside Nick, the owner of Pits N Grills. Together we’ve won Reserve Grand Champions and Grand Champions and I personally received 8th place this past fall at “The Royal” in the chicken category, in a field of 188 of the top teams from across the USA. I love to cook and try new recipes, but more than that I love share these experiences with others. Cooking fills my bucket. Thank you for allowing me to fill a bucket of mine and to share my love of cooking with you!
