Macarons are always pretty, but they are not all the same.
Anytime I see macarons out in the wild, I have to give them a try, so I picked up three different flavors from Publix. Y'all. They were beautiful on the outside, the shell was full when I cut it in half, but that is where the positives ended. The texture was all wrong. Good (great) macarons should be crispy and chewy, and nearly melt in your mouth. Most of the macarons that are mass produced, while beautiful, are too chewy, cakey-ish, and dense. I'm surprised folks who've only been exposed to these kinds of macarons like them at all, tbh.
