A little sourdough confession: I do use a small amount of yeast in my dough.

Not enough to take over the flavor, but enough to help keep the timing and rise a little more consistent, especially when I’m baking several loaves at once. The starter is still doing what I want it to do, I just like having that little bit of backup.

This week’s loaf is jalapeño cheddar, and I think this one deserves a spot in the fall rotation.

What flavor do you want to see this fall?

We’ve been a little quiet around here lately. Between some big changes with our full-time jobs and life just being life, Jewel Green had to slow down for a minute.

But we’ve missed baking, events, City Market and seeing so many familiar faces.

So with fall coming, you’ll be seeing a lot more of us again. Catch us at the pumpkin patches at The Farm at Rocky Top this fall season, with some old favorites and a few new things too. 💚

We had the pleasure of catering lunch this week at Crooked Oaks Farm for the Alabama Treasure Forest Association. Guests enjoyed fresh garden salad, smoked brisket, scratch-made sides, buttermilk cornbread, banana pudding, and more.

Thank you to Crooked Oaks Farm and the Alabama Treasure Forest Association for allowing Jewel Green to be part of your event. 🌿🍽️🔥

It’s a busy weekend for us over here at Jewel Green Baking Co. 😅

We’re catering both a wedding and a rehearsal dinner this weekend, but we still couldn’t miss out on the fun out at Rocky Top!

Because of that, our booth selection is a little smaller than normal this weekend — but we’ve still got some favorites with us:
🍞 Fresh focaccia
🍪 Mini cakes & sweet treats
🍄 Nourish Farm Umami Seasonings

If you’re out enjoying Rocky Top this weekend, come by and see us under the sweetest chandelier in the barn😎. We’re thankful to be a small part of such a fun community event, even during one of our busiest weekends yet 💚

We had an amazing Day 1 at The Cotton Fair in Gay, GA yesterday! 🙌
We’re back out here today from 9AM–4PM EST and it is a BEAUTIFUL morning to come shop all the incredible vendors.

Come find us at the Seed Cotton House—right across from MaMa E's Home Bakery (and yes… those cheese straws are as good as you’ve heard 😅)
