🍞Bread of the week

There’s nothing like a warm loaf of soft Amish white homemade bread. I just pulled these fresh loaves from the oven and they’re cooling on the table - the kitchen smells amazing.

Pickle Bread

This week’s bread of the week is Pickle bread. What is Pickle bread you ask. It’s a bread filled with pickles creating a unique flavor and texture. There is also a Peanut Butter and Pickle bread, which is enjoyed for its tangy and savory flavor. This bread dates back to the Depression era and has its appeal to the stereotypical pregnancy cravings. (Not sure if could have handled it when I was pregnant.).

I posted a Pinterest picture of pickle bread as I didn’t have a picture of the one I made for a friend of mine, Mike Cravens, who loves anything pickle. He said he likes it, but needs more pickle flavor. I can definitely make that happen. I made his with red pepper flakes as he likes hot and spicy too.

I will bake a sample loaf, muffins or full loaf if you would like to try it. I can customize it also. Call, text or message me for orders and questions.

Biscuits ready for sausage and biscuits for supper. Makayla said she had a complaint. I asked what was wrong. “Don’t make them so good. I ate three.” Best compliment a baker and grandma can get! Love it. We will be baking cookies today.

Bread of the week: Farmhouse Mini Loaves

Hi everyone! I apologize for not posted or have baked anything for a couple of weeks. We are in the middle of calving season and have been busy with being a mid-wife to first time cows (heifers). They are not always cooperative in calving.

I have a couple of things I'm working on:

* Featuring a bread of the week. Taking pre-orders the week the bread is featured. Will always bake it at a later date should that work better for you. This next week's featured bread will be posted tomorrow.

If you have suggestions/ideas for a featured bread that we can try, let me know. I'm always open for suggestions. I made a pickle bread (not sure about that one??) for a friend a couple of weeks ago. He said it tasted pretty good, just needed less milk and more pickle juice, so if anyone is really to try it and love anything pickle-flavored let me know and I'll make it using more pickle juice.

* My 8-year-old granddaughter, MaKayla, and one of her friends are requesting to sell some baked items. I'm working on that right now with them. Not sure what they have in mind (might be interesting). Will keep you posted on that.

Makayla and I delivered a pie to the winner of the National Pie Day, Tanya Bottom, this evening. We had fun delivering the pie. Makayla and I were discussing about having another contest in February. We will get something together and post it in the next few days.
