Mother Mary is back baking this week. She is just baking orders and if there is extra from the prep, it will go out on the kiosk for general purchase.

On the kiosk today you will find a variety of bagels and a few packages of English muffins, some with raisins and cinnamon.

Mother Mary will not be baking September 20th through October 12th.

One of those weeks, September 26th, will be First Lutheran’s Oktober Fest. We will be serving Pork roast, homemade sauerkraut, Aldi brats, spaetzle and German potato salad. There will be homemade pies for purchase,by the slice or whole pie. And if Mother Mary can manage it, there will be rye bread for purchase as well. Everyone is welcome.

Mother Mary’s health has been of concern over the past few weeks. There are still follow-up Doctor visits that need to be made and we don’t know what the future holds; but we know Who holds the future. Mother Mary is thankful that she can see, hear, swallow, walk, talk, think and bake bread - things we often take for granted until they are threatened.

3 boules Brown Sugar Cinnamon
2 boules Roasted Garlic and Rosemary
1 Whole Wheat
8 packages of English muffins
5 Everything Bagel English muffin bagels
3 baguettes

These items will be on the kiosk until 3:30 this afternoon.

Thinking the Garlic Rosemary might make really good BLT sandwiches - just saying.

Baguettes need to cool down and still need to bake the bagels.

So along the lines of trying to take things a little easier this week, there will be no cinnamon rolls.

You may still order sourdough breads, sourdough baguettes, and English muffins all for Friday.

For anyone wondering about the bite/sting. It did not go away in 2 days (or even 5 days) as the “officially 5-and-one-half” grandchild promised. So it’s antibiotics, warm compresses, rest and Uriah must study hard and go to medical school!

So this is my story today.

I’m taking it a little easy today. Picked up 7 cases of brats for the church’s October fest to be held in September. Got an inventory of everything that is leftover from last year’s event. And now I am going to hot-pack the sting/bite I got last Friday while riding my bike.

I was hot-packing it yesterday when my “officially five-and-a-half” grandson saw me and became quite concerned and wanted to see the sting/bite. I showed it to him and he said: “Grandma, you just keep doing that. It will be gone in 2 days. I know! Trust me.”

So I am going to give it another day, and if I am still alive, and the sting/bite is not significantly better, I will go see the doctor and tell my grandson to study hard and go to medical school.

I am planning on making bagels for Wednesday. But that is as far as I am planning this week.

On the Mother Mary kiosk at 7664 S 162nd St this evening there are some Craisin Walnut bagels, Cinnamon Raisin bagels and a single 8x8 pan of cinnamon rolls hot from the oven.

Just been messing around and tried something a little different with the roll recipe by adding some starter. Not sure you can tell a difference, but they sure are good.

Tomorrow look for breads, baguettes, English muffins and English muffin bagels.
