After a few days to process everything and work through the emotions that came with closing the doors, I've had some time to reflect on the closure of Forza. One question I've been asked repeatedly is why I decided to close the business, and I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts.
The reality is that there wasn't just one reason—it was a combination of several challenges that became increasingly difficult for a small independent business to overcome.
Over the past year, we faced rising food costs, increasing supply expenses, higher operating costs, and economic pressures that affected both small businesses and consumer spending. Like many businesses, we also experienced staffing and employee-related challenges that added additional strain to day-to-day operations.
I also want to acknowledge my own role in the outcome. I'm not perfect, and I made mistakes along the way. Looking back, there are certainly decisions I would make differently, opportunities I wish I had pursued sooner, and lessons I learned the hard way. As the owner, the responsibility ultimately falls on me, and I accept that.
I strongly believe that a lot of life comes down to timing. Looking back, I can honestly say the timing was off on this one, and I wasn't as prepared as I should have been for some of the challenges that came with it.
Being an entrepreneur means taking risks. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. This one didn't work out the way I had hoped. That's a difficult thing to admit, but it's the truth. What matters now is learning from it, growing from it, and moving forward.
Although the business has closed, my responsibility has not. I remain committed to addressing and resolving the issues that resulted from this process, and I will continue working through them until they are complete. Accountability doesn't end when the doors close.
Despite everything, I don't view Forza as a failure. We built something that brought people together. We supported local musicians, hosted community events, made new friendships, and created memories that will last a lifetime. For that, I will always be grateful.
To everyone who supported Forza Coffee Company, thank you. Your support, encouragement, and friendship meant more than you'll ever know. ❤️
