We wanted to link up with local creators and brands that give a damn, businesses we admire - in an attempt to illustrate the power of collaboration. The idea was to “Pop-Up” IRL. Get offline and create an experience that can be felt, experienced and SHARED - both in the physical realm and the digital one. We want to illustrate how we can amplify one another's impact by joining forces - in intention, creativity and audience.
So our Pop-Up series was born. We were lucky enough to partner first with local baker, super mom and activist Amber Markland from Sift & Gather.
Here’s the thing about experiential marketing - create something memorable from a place of authenticity and people will remember. Don’t market - create an unforgettable experience.
So the first thing you gotta do is define an objective: it could be “sales” or “create user-generated content” and in the case of brands that give a damn - “bring awareness to an important cause”.
When it came time to determine what the objective for our Pop-Up collab with Sift & Gather would be, the answer was so easy - showcase the hard work of the River Ridge BSU.
I suggested the students could ask their community for financial support or share their work with their community. Their answer: “show love AND spread awareness!”
Amber expresses with sincerity “… I just want people to see their brilliance, love, and kindness… “
Their days have been jam-packed with legal stuff, protests and educating educators. Impressive and also fu***ng infuriating. These kids deserve to feel like kids and be surrounded by love and support., So for our very first Pop-Up we are inviting our community to do what the district can’t… lift them up for their efforts, tell them how proud they make us and give them the space to celebrate Black Joy. Anyone who has been following Amber’s stories who may have wanted to lend support in some way but couldn’t, can come and show your support on Saturday.
Join us Saturday 2.19 from 3 pm - 6 pm for music provided by BSU’s own live DJ, sales of BSU swag, and sweet treats- sold at Sift & Gather and a few hours of Celebrating Black Joy - and letting kids be kids!
