We as bakers, do not talk enough about how impactful a cake can be. I have created countless cakes for so many special occasions, pregnancy announcements, gender reveals, memorial cakes, weddings and milestone cakes. And with some of them I have been able to form bonds and lifelong relationships with my clients. Its never “Just cake” to me. Baking has become my ministry and over here HAPPINESS IS A PIECE OF CAKE. 💕
Ya’ll Facebook paid me a whole $6.25 this month. Which is $5 more than what I made last month. I’m moving on up like the Jeffersons😂

One thing about kids they will sign you up and volunteer your services! At least thats what my 9 year old thought she was doing. But not this time. Baby girl had to stand on business and make it herself.

These calendar cakes are on 🔥 and they’re clearly not going anywhere any time soon. And me I like to stay ready so I don’t have to get ready! I decided to save myself and everyone else some time with my calendar templates. No more spending time searching for the next month’s calendar or rearranging and aligning dates. 1.) Thinking I could bake a cake and decorate the same day. Now honestly you may be able to get away with doing this for one cake, but MULTIPLE cakes, umm umm. 0 out of 10 I do not recommend. I would start baking a cake 2 hours before pickup not considering the time it takes the cake to cool or how much more difficult it would be to decorate a delicate fresh baked cake. I was doing this with multiple cakes and got burned out quick from all of the long late nights. Bake and freeze those cakes a few days prior. 2.) Looking at inspiration photos and giving out price quotes. A potential client would reach out asking, “How much for something like this?” Without even factoring the cost of supplies, I would just throw out a number based on how much I thought the customer would want to pay too afraid they would think I was charging too much. Always find out as much information from the client before providing a quote. Things like serving size, cake flavors, frosting types, and the amount of detail that goes into a cake makes a difference. Don’t be afraid to charge your worth. The right customer will pay you with no questions asked. 3.) Not having a schedule or system in place. Just like a fortune 500 company you need a schedule and processes on the way you do things. I was so unorganized and was pretty much winging it. Set you a routine weekly schedule. Pick a day of the week that you complete all of your shopping for supplies, pick a day for all of your baking and making batches of frosting. Decide what days or times you will respond to invoices and deadlines for accepting payments and order pickups. Doing these not only help to set a standard for your business but allows you to be so much productive and which allows your business to make more money. What mistakes were you making as a beginner baker? Let’s talk about it.
