I was an akward little seven year old girl when my dad asked me to make a cake for a potluck then next afternoon, I was so excited to have this responsibility bestoyed upon me and therefore took it very seriously, which meant it had to be the best. In fact I made up my mind that it was going to be the best freaking cake my dad ever saw. Five hours later I was covered in flour, sugar, and more fluffy ingredients but through it all my cake looked more like a drunken sandwich of sugar and goo.
