For those who saw my reel last week, you know that I've finally crossed off one of my bucket list items as a baker! For the longest time I've been DYING to make gender reveal cakes, and I was so excited to be able to make not one, but TWO gender reveal cakes for twins!!
I wasn't able to capture any pictures of the inside of the cakes, but suffice it to say that the 🩷 AND 💙 colors came out beautifully!

"Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him." -Acts 28:31
I was honored to be asked to make some cookies for a preacher's meeting that my church was hosting at the beginning of this week. It's always a little scary having other people judge my work, but with this set, I also felt the need to properly convey the love I have for my Saviour.
When I tell you I AGONIZED over how to make these look!! I had three basic components I was going for, and as I sat there staring at my list of "musts," it suddenly clicked.
My granddad was a pastor for over 40 years, only just retiring this May. His church was located in a small Midwest town right on the Mississippi River. It was the epitome of a small country church. And I loved going every time we visited.
Maybe it was the fact that we were visiting family, or maybe it was the fact that going "home" always felt like stepping back in time. Either way, it always seemed to me - as I walked through the front doors of that old white church with the old-fashioned steeple countless times; as we sang songs from hymnals that, though old, still hold deep truths today; and as we heard preaching from a Bible that likely had a thousand notes in the margins - it always seemed evident that the love of God was seeped into the very walls.
It's not often that my desserts get to reflect one of the most integral parts of my being, but when they do, they end up being my favorite sets I make.

"We go together like. . ."
Who doesn't love cookies that fit together like puzzle pieces?! This set had its own unique set of challenges, but the end result was soooooo worth it!
With Valentine's Day in less than a month, this design would translate well to a treat made special for a significant other. ❤️ Ordering available now for Valentine's Day!

This year, we're sticking to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup!
I made these cookies for my mom's porch sale this coming weekend. Unfortunately, the sale was cancelled and I'm stuck with a couple dozen Christmas themed sugar cookies in the middle of November!! 😅

"We show up"
This past week, I was asked to create some birthday cookies for a sweet lady's sister-in-law. She wanted a note inside wishing her a happy birthday, as well as the phrase "we show up." She explained to me that this was something of a motto among her and her siblings, and by including this phrase in the note, she wanted to let her sister-in-law know that she is, and always will be, part of their family.
I'm so thankful that I got to be a small part of such a sweet gesture of family love and support! ❤️

In a sea full of fish . . . choose to be a ✨mermaid✨
My friend's daughter turned 8 years old in August, and she requested to have a mermaid themed party. I had wayyyy too many ideas in my brain, and I was adding more details up to five minutes before I had to deliver the cake!

🌸Mamma Mia!
Here I go again🌸
By show of hands, how many of y'all are OBSESSED with this movie??
The first time I watched this classic was in college, and while I can't say I'm obsessed, it's a fun movie, and I definitely get the hype around it.
That being said, when a friend shows you a picture of the exact Mamma Mia cake she wants, how can you say no?! The coconut cake and pineapple filling flavor combo is just too good to be true, and is giving ALLLLLLL the tropical/summery vibes! And yeah, Greece isn't exactly tropical, but I think this cake gets a pass 😆😆

"I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill"
Every Sunday, my church has a potluck after the morning service. And every Sunday, I take the opportunity to use my church family as guinea pigs for my baking. This newest cake features:
💛 Lemon cake
💙 Blueberry compote
🤍 Mascarpone and cream cheese frosting

I'm doing my best to summon warm weather with these spring flavors. With our current tornado forecast, I'm not sure I've been successful 😅

I'm baaaaaack!!!
I simply CANNOT believe it's been almost two years since my last baking post. Don't think for one minute that I've given up baking, oh no.

Actually, I moved from the great state of Georgia to the slightly less interesting but still oh so great state of Oklahoma. And while that shouldn't warrant a two year hiatus. . .well. . .my mom SouthernSpangled used to be my photographer, and up until this point I've simply not been confident in my own photography skills. But with this loooooong break, I've been trying new techniques and branching out into new baking territory!
It's good to be back, and hopefully there will be many more posts in the future. Maybe I'll do a photo dump of all the photos I deemed unworthy over these past two years 😆
