Tonight, my family is mourning the loss of Lt. Isai Huerta.
As many of you know, my son is a firefighter/paramedic with Odessa Fire & Rescue. Lt. Huerta was part of his station familyโhis brother in service and, more importantly, one of his best friends. My son was working on the medic unit during this incident, but I know without a doubt that if he had been in his bunker gear, he would have run right in beside his brothers. He was there with his friend, and this loss hits incredibly close to home in every way.
I had the privilege of meeting Lt. Huerta many times. He was truly an amazing personโalways smiling, always making people laugh, and always leaving those around him better than he found them.
Please join my family in praying for the Huerta family, the men and women of Fire Station #7, the entire Odessa Fire & Rescue family, and our community as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Lt. Huerta, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and the impact you made on so many lives. You are a true hero, and you will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, sir. We have it from here. โค๏ธ๐
