/ may 2025 / 🍓 Strawberry season is finally here! 🍓 (insert happy wiggle dance) So excited to have strawberries back in my life. My favorite strawberries are from a family-owned farm in Watsonville, California along the Monterey Bay coast. 🖤 Black Sesame Choux: My earliest memory of having black sesame, or “haak zi maa” in cantonese, was in glutinous rice dumplings in a sweet ginger soup dessert. I love the deep nuttiness of roasted black sesame, and I'm using sesame from Wadaman, the legendary Japanese roaster that's been doing their thing for over 130 years!
🍪 Black & White Pepper Snaps: From the Batik And Baker archives, these crisp, savory-sweet crackers made their debut in my first-ever bake box in January 2021. This OG has gone through multiple iterations and looks very different from when it first premiered, but it’s my love letter to black and white pepper from Sarawak, which imho grows the best pepper.
🥜 Lastly, a classic that is often the first thing to sell out: Peanut Mochi. With that QQ bounce, these bebes are filled with oven-toasted peanuts, a hit of sugar and salt for that sweet and savory bite.
