It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you that we will be shutting the doors at Sugarsweet Bakery. This decision has been tough on me as my bakery has been my life these last 4 years and I've worked so hard to make it work. Among other things, rampant crime, low foot traffic and decreased sales has made it impossible to carry on. I truly appreciate the love, support and kindness you have shown me and my team these last 4 years, it has truly been invaluable. We are looking into coming back, possibly as a pop-up or some other incarnation but in the meantime I will be getting some much needed rest and finally taking my first vacation 4 years. Please feel free to stop by. I would love to see you! Our last day open is Wednesday, January 31st. You will be welcomed with open arms and a very grateful heart!

Note: We will be open for pickup orders this week from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. And fully open for cupcake and cookie sales this Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. But we will not be accepting any more cake orders from here on out. If you have an order already on the books that has been paid for, it will be honored and we will contact you for pickup or delivery details. From January 31st to February 3rd we will be selling almost everything in the bakery. So if you're interested in baking equipment cookie cutters, utensils, shelving, refrigerators, chandeliers-- You name it. We will be selling it. Thank you and I hope to see you soon.

Will be closing a little early tomorrow to attend a local event. But we will be open from 11:00 to 2:00 and also available on GrubHub and DoorDash. We will be open all day Saturday until 5:00 p.m. See you soon!

Time has really flown by. Can't believe it's actually been 4 years since I opened Sugarsweet. Without much if any real business knowledge or much of a background working in the food/baking world, I opened up without a clue of what I was getting myself into and overwhelmed by the responsibility of it all. But you take one day at a time, right? And then you look up and 4 freakin years have passed by. It's been an adventure that is for sure. I want to take this time to simply say thank you to anyone and everyone who has supported me through this, anyone who has liked or commented on any of my photos, shared them, stopped by the bakery, purchased anything or just silently (or not o silently) rooted me on. THANK YOU. It has not been easy but you're support and love is what has carried me through the most difficult days. God bless you all and I hope to see you soon.

We are a small but very busy custom cake shop in Oakland, Ca. that is looking to hire one experienced, reliable and talented person passionate about cake design to join our team. This is a part-time position that offers a lot of freedom, flexibility and responsibility. We are looking for someone who is fluid and flexible in their design ability to create beautiful professional-looking cakes. You are mature, fun, and a team player. You will be required to decorate and design cakes of various styles for any and every occasion. We are not looking for trainees but experienced cake designers.

Candidate must be within commuting distance of the bakery in Oakland. Fluent in English both verbally and written. In this part-time position, you will work at least 3 days during the week 9am-4pm (flex time).

We are a small, friendly, laid back, and very supportive group of bakers and culinary professionals trying to make our bakery the best in the bay and have fun doing it.

I didn't get a chance to say this at the start of the year like I wanted to but Thank You for supporting me and my little bakery. The likes, comments, compliments and love are felt deeply and I didn't want to go another month without acknowledging this to everyone who passes thru my page and takes the time to show support. And of course thank you to those who have stopped by and bought cupcakes cookies and ordered cakes from us. Without getting too deep I am still grieving for my mother so sometimes when you don't see me here (or on FB) posting on the regular I'm going thru it as well as being busy running Sugarsweet. This is a that "celebrates Black culture through cooking and gathering" and features the best and brightest in the black world.
