Please join us this Sunday at It's All Good Bakery from 12 Noon to 3pm with regards to the future building project! We would love the opportunity to shed light and give clarification as to what will actually be happening.

We are aware that between television media and social media there has been misinformation and false narratives put forth. This is the chance for us to clear the air.

For over 20 years, we've worked in partnership with the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation to ensure people coming to It’s All Good Bakery, whether off the street or as part of the Foundation’s Black Panther Party Legacy Tour, knew the rich and significant history of this location to the Black Panther Party and this community. The building may look different than it did in 1967, but the history is here and we have always committed to keeping it alive in a respectful and informative manner.

The new plans for the site also take this rich history into account and we continue to work with the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation and Fredrika to ensure that our commitment doesn’t just remain a part of this site, but that it is expanded and made more prominent and permanent.

It's All Good Bakery, Inc.

Stop #1: You wouldn’t know it just by looking at it, or even just by the incredible smell of baked goods that stops you in your steps as you’re walking by, but this building at 5622 Martin Luther King Jr Way in West Oakland is home to the first official meeting place during the early formation of the Black Panther Party. Opened in 1967, this place was always busy and bustling. This branch was managed by one of the BPP leaders and best friend to Huey Newton, David Hilliard. Since then, the space has transformed into what is now It’s All Good Bakery. The owner is Kim Cloud who grew up in Oakland, and actually participated in the Panthers’ Free Breakfast Program as a child. You’ll notice when you walk in the memorabilia of the BPP on the walls, put up as a tribute to honor what the Panthers did for the community in Oakland. If you’re ever in the area, pop in! The employees are incredibly kind and their food is mouthwatering. I’m salivating right now just thinking about their yellow cake with chocolate frosting (my fu***ng favorite). This year, they’re celebrating 24 years of business!

This location was the FIRST meeting place of the founders of the Black Panther Party.
